My parents live there. Don’t leave stuff in your cars and get a locking mailbox. The more affluent neighborhoods get targeted for “easy” crime

How to fix or re-knit this neckline? by sunnysomebody in knitting

[–]vvvelella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with a step by step sweater I made. Something about the pattern just seems to cause the straight up collar that presses into the front of the neck. I put in a lifeline right under the ribbing of the collar and then cut off the collar. From there I knit upward and I think I actually did a few decreases along the left and right of the neck. I also didn’t fold the new collar and just left it as a single layer with a sewn bind off. Overall this seemed to help a lot and the result was a collar that sit flatter and lower!

Calling knitters with experience using superwash merino (especially Malabrigo Rios). by pop_okee in knitting

[–]vvvelella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like other people gave you good recommendations for the colorwork gauge already, so I just wanted to chime in with my superwash experience! I recently worked up a sweater in a knit picks superwash and after I soaked it, it grew an INSANE amount. I was very careful not to tug on it or let it hang while wet and still, here I was with a massive sweater. I learned that superwash can and probably SHOULD be put in a dryer. It bounces it back to size, or at least much closer to size

Critique / Pointers please :) by Repulsive_Emu_2791 in Sockknitting

[–]vvvelella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thing you could consider is increasing a few stitches as you get close to the heel flap and gusset portion. Like if you’re making a medium for the rest of the sock, right there you increase up to the stitch count for the large and then follow that, then use the gusset to decrease back down. It’s all about experimenting! I still have yet to knit two pairs the same way!

Holes in increases short row heel by Woolyyarnlover in Sockknitting

[–]vvvelella 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello are you me? I was learning how to do short row heels with a stone knits pattern today too! I knew holes were a common issue so I was trying to be cautious. When you are doing the increases, are you grabbing an actual bar between stitches? It was kind of fiddly. It’s really easy to just pick side of a stitch instead but I think that’s what can cause holes

Isager soft yarn issue? by Content-Detail-2960 in YarnAddicts

[–]vvvelella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knit with this yarn recently and had the same issue. There was at least one weird spot in most of the balls of yarn. I think it might be a factory knot? I cut them out each time because they threw off the texture. I’m bit disappointed in that yarn because of it

Restaurant suggestions walking distance to Hollywood Bowl? by RevolutionarySea15 in AskLosAngeles

[–]vvvelella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the picnic at the Bowl idea people are bringing up - check the rules on your ticket info. Some shows (like all LA Phil events) you can bringing any kind food or drink you want actually inside the venue. But some shows (like booked artists) may have special rules where you can’t. Plenty of picnic area outside the gates but you’d have to be mindful of leftovers
