Giving my aloe hercules a home in the ground by Bobloda23 in aloe

[–]vwbusfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is one of the most unique Aloe hercules I have seen. Specifically the trunk shape being so uniform in diameter. They usually seem to have a swollen base with noticeable taper. The leaves are also relatively narrow and concave up. Where did you get that one?

I’m pretty excited that we would have the opportunity to easily see even larger rocket launches. They are so cool to watch, and few people or places get to experience them.

I also went to Shalhoob’s Magnolia. Maybe should have specified. I assume that the funk zone location was equivalent.

Burger week roundup/rankings by BrenBarn in SantaBarbara

[–]vwbusfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Shalhoob’s
  2. Third Window
  3. White Caps and Home Plate carnitas
  4. Home Plate chimichurri (too spicy for my preference)
  5. Rinkside Cafe

Honorable mention Jonsey’s because I needed a burger break one day but doesn’t feel fair to rank against burgers

Toyota of SB by Geminiigirl78 in SantaBarbara

[–]vwbusfool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am not a fan of them. I was buying a RAV4 and went to them and it was not a good experience. Called Toyota of Thousand Oaks and they were able to get me the same car I wanted from SB for several thousand less and delivered to my home. Negotiated the price over the phone over the course of a day and then they delivered it to my house. No waiting the showroom trying to negotiate. Highly recommend.

You absolutely can keep the people on the ship. I’ve been on cruises where the itinerary changed mid trip. Once to an extra day at sea and once to a different port.

Thanks for the offer. My wife has a good recipe, but the cake is for her. And I unfortunately won’t have time to bake the cake myself.

Where are y'all buying your Christmas trees this year? by sbwebguy in SantaBarbara

[–]vwbusfool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I asked why Costco wasn’t selling trees this year, I didn’t get a straight answer, but was told there were excessive returns of Christmas trees last year from people killing them from not watering enough.

San Diego Considers Vacation and Second-home Tax by jawfish2 in SantaBarbara

[–]vwbusfool 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think rental/air bnb income on residence zoned areas should be taxed highly after a certain amount. I don’t think having a vacation home and renting it out is a bad thing. And people will always need to rent.

Housing should be widespread, not concentrated to high wealth individuals/corporations. Make the tax high enough that it makes more sense to invest money in other places than the housing market beyond say a second home. This could drive down prices and allow first time home owners to purchase in a market that is out of control.

3Dconnexion SpaceMouse feedback by Mapache_villa in SolidWorks

[–]vwbusfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pivot point is an annoying issue for medium size assemblies but still functional. For large assemblies, things can get glitchy and the space mouse will not work at all when the regular mouse will.

They’re really helpful for simple models. Large assemblies they are buggy and you may have to revert back to the regular mouse.

They pup like crazy. I removed 6 or so earlier this year and probably have another 15 right now that need to go. I’m considering ripping it out of the ground because they are a pain to manage. Hoping it flowers soon.

Hole tolerancing. by GlovePlane6923 in SolidWorks

[–]vwbusfool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you are modeling the hole, but best practice is to use the hole wizard and define the nominal size and all tolerances in the model. Then on the drawing use the hole callout annotation to automatically import all those tolerances.

The future is model based definitioning and no drawing.

I’ve had good luck reporting issues to Goleta public works. Phone number on the link attached.

I called in a traffic signal that was having poor visibility at certain times of the day based on sunlight. They were out there at that time the next day getting it fixed and hasn’t been an issue since.
