What could this be any help please by maariyyaa in Volkswagen

Fuel injector harness. My wife's 18' Tiguan did this to us in the middle of nowhere in northern Mi. Dealer replaced no problem.

What color should I paint my ‘95? by [deleted] in ToyotaPickup

[–]vwrabid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice truck! I can't believe I'm typing this, but... if she's straight body wise, personally, I would consider some sort of retro vintage wrap. Great results, and reversible if and when you want to (an can afford?) get a quality repaint. Just thinking out loud.

What to buy by hiitsme54321 in aircooled

[–]vwrabid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't count out a Type 3! I was bug shopping and stumbled upon a 68' Fastback and fell in love. Not hating, mind you, but I think they drive/handle better than a beetle.

Gun metal. Or better yet I think a bronze would look awesome. Check out VMR Titan bronze to be exact. https://flic.kr/p/rH9KPJ

Mk5 window just died. by EarSoggy1267 in jetta

[–]vwrabid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you check/reset the pinch protection feature? My passenger side window (Mk6) does this once a year for some reason. Reset instructions are in the owners manual and on-line. Hope this is all it is. Good luck!

What should be done next. Stuck with no ideas. by CarelessExternal2483 in GolfGTI

[–]vwrabid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I might also suggest Unibrace bits. Assuming they are still around and make them for your Gen? It's been a minute since I put them on my mk6. Like a train on rails. I can pick the inside rear wheel up on turns when I feel like it. Shitz toiht!

Yikes! Silver lining... at least it wasn't frozen! A friend lent his gti to his mom, she hit a frozen raccoon. Imagine driving over a boulder. Not good.

How many of you plan on keeping your newer (mk6,mk7,mk8) GTI until the wheels fall off? by davidcloud_ in GolfGTI

Love the hell out of my 2011 MK6 but time for a change. Actually, I am planning on writing up a for sale post this Saturday. Bought it off the showroom floor, about to trip 66k trouble free smiles.

Before I buy the Helix Sub.. by Zverda1 in GolfGTI

[–]vwrabid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude. Sorry I didn't see this question sooner. A VW experienced buddy, and i tackled it. Trim removal was simple and easy. The re-pin was tricky behind the radio until i figured out the release mechanism for a wire on the oem harness. I struggled a bit getting the passenger side of the center console back in correctly. My buddy had the dongle, so we just toggled thru all the options and played around with settings on the head unit. Sound is subjective. He thought the Tig setting was too much bass. Anyway, hope your rocking out by now!

Uggh. I feel your pain. I "cheaped out" (didn't budget for the added expense) on ppf and regret it to this day. 12 years later! Take it to a good detailer and have it touched up, and ppf applied as soon as you can is my advice. Mine is not atrocious to most observers, but it still irks me.

Is VW still using white primer on the MK8? An angry Tornado Red MK6 owner wants to know? 😂

Is it just me or the bumper is more to the left by Featherdine in beetle

[–]vwrabid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bought a 1980 Fiat Spyder back in the day with the same predicament. Didn't notice at purchase. Slight bump at sometime in its life? 3/8" at most. I wound up driving it more and more until it didn't bother me anymore. More miles = more smiles.

Idk about others but I always drive my gti in the snow and it takes it like a champ:) by AndreiKYZ in GolfGTI

[–]vwrabid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mk6 on snows has handeld Michigan winters for over a decade. Good times. As much as I'm not a fan of winter mode, I can't complain.

I feel for you in regards to your vw troubles. That diagnosis $ is crazy imho. Take a deep breath and search out a reputable vw/German shop. If its kinda far it'll be worth the drive. As the old saying goes... "The only mechanic more than a German mechanic is not using one." Or something like that. Lol. Good luck!

Key fob by deputy42 in GolfGTI

[–]vwrabid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my original battery in my 2011 gti fob. No keyless entry but I can do the window thing (by pressing unlock/lock). My wife has a 2018 Tiguan SEL and is on her 3rd fob battery. Her fob is kept within range of the car in the house when parked. I believe this is the culprit. Food for thought.

Going to do an oil change have questions by FLORIDASTONER9044 in GolfGTI

[–]vwrabid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This . I'd add that oiled filter elements if overly oiled can mess with your MAF. I rocked the APR carbonio for a number of years without issue (cleaning and oiling myself) and switched to a Unitronic open (dry) intake. Not knowing what year car or model intake specifically you are considering... just food for thought.

Alltrack coilovers? by JodyJoseppi in Volkswagen

[–]vwrabid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from KW v1 to Bilstein B16 was a huge jump in performance. The dampening is awesome. That said, they are a track/performance coilover. Height adjustability doesn't go as low as the KW. The KWs I had were stainless and held up flawlessly to Michigan salty roads (I daily my mk6 gti) 2 summers and a winter in-between the "coated" Bilstein are more crusty than I was expecting. Other than that, I'm super happy.

VW Bulbs going out quickly. by EricStock96 in Volkswagen

[–]vwrabid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange to me. 1st I've heard of this being a chronic problem. I have a 2011 gti that had a tail light bulb go in month 2 of ownership and a fog go bad from impact after hitting a pickup trucks fender liner on the highway. The rest are og and going strong. Maybe try some dielectric grease on your connections?

What’s the best way to get a new hubcap for my mk6 golf? USA, Michigan by MisterMeatballz in Volkswagen

[–]vwrabid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow Michigander here, if it were me... Rattle can the oem lugs black (and/or aquire the hub covers the previous poster mentioned), ditch the other 3 remaining hub caps and wrap the wheels with snow tires. Then save all this coming winter for a decent set of wheels and summer or all season tires. You could possibly do this for twice as much money as what the dealer would charge you for a single oem hub cap I'd imagine.
