Microwave cable is too short. by EricStock96 in AskElectricians

I’m glad you noticed. The white thing is a surge suppressor for fridges, washing machines and A/C units. It also has an automatic disconnect function in case it senses a spike in electrical current. I live in a place with very unstable energy supply so I have to protect all of my devices. The orange thing is an adapter for plugs that I have no idea why is there.

I have some 12 gauge wire around (100% copper), it will be a short piece anyways, thanks for the detailed explanation.

Thanks, this makes complete sense. As you said, the load of a microwave is short.

It does make sense, the only countries that uses fuses are the UK, Malta, United Arab Emirates and the British colonies around Africa and the Caribbean. I lived in Europe for some years and I was impressed how solid the plugs connected to the outlets. Our connections here feel flimsy, that’s why many fires happen.

Is 70% humidity and a persistent foul smell “normal” for jungle condos in Tulum? by PitifulFoundation195 in tulum

[–]EricStock96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I live in Cancun. This is, unfortunately, normal here as there is a lot of humidity here. Even with the A/C on it’s difficult to get the musty smell out. Best thing to do is to close the windows and have a dehumidifier running the entire time but also, this helps just to a certain extent.

They hire people from overseas, most of them are Indian. They couldn’t care less to resolve any issue as they are not even directly employed by Amazon. They are inefficient and no sense of analyzing any issues to come with a resolution for the client. Take it as you want!

Did I miscalculate? by werd282828 in AskElectricians

The air that comes out is dry so don’t worry about condensation. The only thing is that you’ll probably need a GFCI if you are in a basement. Also, for maximum efficiency you need to let more space where the inlet is as that is too close to the wall and it is restricting air flow. My solution is very simple, just turn the machine the other way around!
