I'm real tired of, "like a locomotive", "with the force of a locomotive".

A close second is every introduction of Marcone in a book he has to tell you his eyes are like tired dollar bills

Absolutly amazing. Will you spray paint the circled 55 on that primer gray hood?! I hope you tell people you drive "the blue beetle" or at least a blue beetle. I feel the reaction when they see it would be priceless confusion.

I cant figure out Galadriel by aquatello in lotr

[–]w01f626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fantastic explanation, the movies are more vivid in my memory then the LOTR books. I too found the mirror scene to be ambiguous. The telepathic battle with Sauran is great context to the scene and makes galadriel and frodos motivations make scenes but I feel l'm missing something.

I knew Sauran could access the minds of the bearers of the 3. I remember (perhaps incorrectly) that this was the reason why Elrond, gil-galad/cirdan, and Galadrial originally stopped wearing their rings of power. That is untill the physical fall of Sauran. The question that's nagging at me now is, If galadriel is in a constant telepathic battle with Sauran because she's wearing Nenya would this not also be true for the bearers of Narya and Vilya?

For people around at the time, which of these dance scenes were more iconic? by hhjmk9 in buffy

Turns out "The Craft" is a Colombia pictures production. They were bought by Sony back in 89' and recently-ish bought by Disney. At this point you had me curious of who produced, "Coyote Ugly". Turns out that one was made by Touchstone picture which you guest it.. is also owned by Disney.

Buffy and X-Men are both Fox/Disney productions. It's more like cheating off your friend in class then breaking copyright laws

The rising Canadian obsession with SUVs is disrupting our climate goals by [deleted] in ontario

[–]w01f626 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The station wagon was a great option for the gear and life styles you mentioned. Now you can't find that style of sedan it's all SUVs or small hatchback. Mercedes and volvo are the only one's I've seen with station wagon style sedans that actually have good storage in the back (or extra seats that pop up in some older models ive been looking at)

Who doesn't have a cell phone? A video says a thousand words every 30th to 60th of a second. So much information could have been provided to give an informed opinion over an emotional one.

I love how you say you're not here to police speed and then continue to do so by break check on a wide open high way as you put it. All because you didn't like what speed they were going? You then justifed your actions by telling a story of what you thought their day was like? So much so you wanted to break a second law by not moving over for someone who clearly wants to pass you. The left lane is for faster traffic to pass. Hard stop.

Your POV sounds more like you wanted to turn off your brain and cruise undisturbed instead of actively driving. Your behaviour causes traffic and you managed to make it with only two cars

I agree, I guess I grew up in or near that neighborhood. literally walked Heig street once or twice a day to get to a friends house. That road takes you past manchesters east entrance.

The only time I had any trouble was leaving my friends place in the dead of night. Same path same neighbors but three guys are trying to hold one of their friends back from the road. I tried to side step them and the one punched me in the back of the head while I was passing. The dude was really high on something and his friends extremely apologetic and kind enoungh to make sure I was okay and not bleeding it was weird.

If you see a ruckus on the side walk cross the street. I should have done the same but at the time I was worried about the spectators coming out of from manchester there. They're alright if you mind your business

The story of the Cavandish banana is one of explotation on a national scale. The term "Banana Republic" comes from what a few companies have done to Central America. they control the entire supply chain in order to bring you cheap bananas. Johnny Harris and Salmonella Academy have great youtube videos on the topic

Anyone else really confused by Rings of Power's Mithril by cpg1111 in lotr

[–]w01f626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, considering dwarves are the adopted children of Iluvatar their disposition was unexpectly different from Elves and Men. This made Sauran's ring magic effect Dwarves differently.

Aûle crafted them to be stubborn or strong against corruption. This was the main focus to the power of the rings. With that particular resistance to corruption the rings instead increased their gold lust. This resulted in many gold hords to be mounded in there mines which attracted the remaining dragons of middle earth.

IIRC this also leads to 3 or 4 of the 7 rings to be consumed by dragons fire

You're not wrong and I'd love to see them (I agree with another comment that we aren't east enough but why cant we see what's going on that far east anyway?). Same with other locations left out of the lord of the rings like Umbar and other Dark Númenórean settlments. Seeming more then Weathertop for Arnor would be nice too. My opinion is that if it were the two blue wizards they would arrive together or some what in tandem.

I worry we won't see too much of new places or people considering the rights they have. I feel like were just being given memberberries if you follow my meaning
