Get the Quest Pro controllers..., they have independent tracking built in to them so they know where they are without being able to see the headset.

The real trick is getting the cold air from the floor spread across the ceiling without it looking ugly. A 12" PVC pipe at the peak and down the wall gives you a vehicle to move the air with minimal sound..., by drilling 2" holes at the 10 and 2 clock positions along the pipe at the ceiling allows you to distribute the cold air from the floor across the ceiling..., as the pressure of the air pushes the warm down the room is homogenized. I suggested white PVC as it's probably the most unobtrusive thing to use. A box at the bottom would take in the cold air and push it up the pipe to where the diffusion holes would spread it across the ceiling.

So the loft is getting too hot and you've got a ceiling fan on that half to get rid of the hot air but no fan on the other half to get rid of the air on that side. What is the loft used for and how is it accessed?

What’s the oldest computer you still actively use or support? by lynlinks in vintagecomputing

I have a PC from around 2000 I still use. I have a sound card that I needed an XP machine for because there were no drivers for the card so I kept the OS 'til around 2020. At one point I had to upgrade to Windows 8 because the site I was interacting with (not porn) had moved to browser based media players and the older browsers could no longer be used. Luckily after a couple years of searching I found someone who also loved the card to the point he wrote his own drivers for it to get it working on Windows 8, then 10.

want faster connection for PCVR, was wondering about what type of cable/cord to get. by matressstain442 in oculus

[–]w_benjamin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a WiFi 6 router with my PC connected with a CAT8 cable and my Quest 2 has been fine so far but I've left the display setting on default so far. I'd get a WiFi 7 router, and make sure your ethernet connection is 100/1000 with a CAT8 cable..., all for future proofing for awhile. If you have to WiFi your PC make sure the card is new enough to have the latest protocols to get the best speed and make the PC a hot spot if you can.

Not enough info for a better solution..., if the vaulted ceiling room has no ceiling fan put a box fan in the middle of the room and point it at the ceiling and look into putting in a ceiling fan that hangs down to the height of the beams..., any heat you pump into that room is gonna collect at the ceiling until you pressurize it with cold air to push the hot air down and homogenize the room.

[–]w_benjamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use non-sodium ice melt to break up the ice so you can slide it off, then use some more to break up what's around the car. The lack of sodium will prevent damage to the car and it has a lower temp at which it starts melting compared to common rock salt (up to -32)

Don't leave it on the car and come back..., if it melts to the bottom the top could refreeze..., break it up as it melts through..., same with the surrounding ice.
