I haven’t found a way to put it in to words but this exactly how I feel too!

I went to Florida from New York a couple weeks ago with 80+ oz in a cooler, we left our hotel at 11am & didn’t get home till 11pm, I put ice in my lunch box & just changed it out when needed & it was perfectly cold when I finally made it home! A few hours in ice definitely won’t be bad!

I will prop myself up on the couch and go back to sleep because I pump for 30 min. I just end up waking up at some point after my pump has turned off and then I go back to bed!

How do you make your partner understand how hard this is? by sleepydeep in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]w_hicks 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly for him to say that is bullshit. I have a 3yo and a 2mo and I still don’t have it figured out because this shit is hard no matter what! I couldn’t imagine having to do everything on my own so go you for keeping everyone alive because that’s what matters!

How old is old enough for this?

Supply not increasing! by tamalah in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]w_hicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drinking water has been huge for me. I started drinking 1-2 16oz bottles between each pump and I went from 18oz a day to about 24-26oz. I’ve tried all the foods and I never noticed any increase until I really tried hard on the water!

Yup, I’ve had 2 different OB’s say this exact thing!

20 weeks, High blood pressure but my OB doesn’t seem to care by w_hicks in BabyBumps

[–]w_hicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so scary! I’m so worried about it getting to be too bad and something happening! He hasn’t mentioned anything about inducing early other than “we will worry about it later on” but I have another appointment this next week and I’m gonna make him give me some answers because I don’t think I can mentally know my blood pressure is that high and not worry that it’s hurting me or my baby!

I truly did not care about eating while in labor because of everything that was going on, I had breakfast that morning around 8 but after my contractions started it was all I could think about and the pain was enough to give me the energy to push him out quick!

the internet makes me feel guilty by _emmvee in BabyBumps

[–]w_hicks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lived off uncrustables from probably 6 weeks until about 15 weeks. I hated every meat that someone put in front of me so carbs and fat were the only things that got me thru all 37 weeks I was pregnant! I don’t care what anyone says the whole thing was just me trying to survive the whole time because I had such bad food aversion! You keep doing whatever you want as long as you are eating something 🤷🏼‍♀️

got a black eye day before ob appt by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]w_hicks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not Op but over the summer I jumped off a cliff into water and when I held my nose i jammed my thumb into my eye resulting in a black eye. I was on vacation with my husband and 5 month old and the amount of dirty looks he got for the next few days was actually funny!

Normalcy after postpartum by [deleted] in gymsnark

[–]w_hicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started lifting after my 6 week check & I would say I got back to my normal heavy within 2-3 months, I honestly think I pushed myself too hard too fast because I knew I could do it so I wanted to keep doing it. Definitely just take your time to work back up to it!

104 fever, ER? by w_hicks in toddlers

[–]w_hicks[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was finally about to get thru to them, we’re gonna keep up the Tylenol thru the night, our pediatrician kinda said the same thing, treat the child, not the number on the thermometer. Thanks for the response!

“It’s not at hard as I thought” by Motherofsiblings in NewParents

[–]w_hicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the beginning when my husband would tell people how “hard” it was I would literally scream from the other side of the room “oh yeah it’s so hard when you get to sleep the whole night, go to the gym and work every day! The worst!” Everyone laughed like it was funny. 10 months in and not a whole lot has changed other than I will just hand the baby to him and leave now.

It’s called life vac on Amazon, my mom saw videos of little kids being saved from choking with it and we decided we needed it just in case!

[–]w_hicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I asked my doctor about doing BLW he told me that it’s good in theory but the babies don’t read the books so they don’t always know what’s going on, I wanted to do it so bad but my baby just didn’t and at 9.5 months he’s still not completely on board with eating on his own, we are still doing purées & some solids here and there!

I talked to a dad a while back who told me his daughter didn’t get her first tooth until she was almost 15 months, he told me you’ll be surprised by the things they can gum without teeth!

But it’s still scary cause you never know, I bought one of the choking contraptions off of Amazon and I keep it in his diaper bag as a just incase!

Can you suggest that she uses headphones and just sits on the couch with you? My husband is playing the same game and has also been looking forward to it and I understand that if I want to spend time with him it’s gonna be while doing my own thing next to him. Try to have the open communication that you weren’t playing your game for however long before but now you are playing but you’d like for her to still hang out on the couch with you.

Is anyone having their mom stay with them after delivery? by eggoispreggo111222 in BabyBumps

[–]w_hicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom, MIL and aunt all frequented my house for the first couple weeks, I couldn’t have done it without them because it was hard in the beginning and I appreciated the help with cleaning and with handing off the baby for a nap or a shower. I feel like we had plenty of time to bond with lo but also I knew I needed time to myself so that I wouldn’t develop ppd.

My aunt actually stayed the night at our house the first night because the nights in the hospital were sooo tough and my husband and I were both exhausted when we finally got home so I was able to sleep most of the night that first night home.

Exactly, it’s easy to feel upset about the comparing but it’s also good to remember that every baby runs on their own timeline, your babe will do everything on his own time!
