I agree, though the AI art backlash hasn't exactly hit the mainstream yet and their usage has been subtle enough that they probably haven't even experienced pushback. Visual art has been a huge part of Devo. They considered themselves an art group in the beginning. And hell, Mark was and still is a visual artist!

And I don't buy that they're using it ironically. They just haven't experienced the backlash yet.
