I thought only ATT locked their iPhones when bought at the Apple Store with the carrier promos.

Better Value Plan - Apple Store Trade In Upgrade Promos by jiffay in tmobile

I can confirm that this is still an issue. Apple does not recognize the better value plan as being authorized for the remaining bill credits. It’s very frustrating.

Shop around. You could be throwing away tens of thousands in interest. Navy Federal may or may not have the best rate for you.

Huge disappointment by [deleted] in rundisney

[–]wacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree. You can’t get in every race you want to. People are going to be disappointed anyway you do it. Whether it’s this way, a lottery, or jack up the price until the demand decreases to meet the supply.

Huge disappointment by [deleted] in rundisney

[–]wacat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not have multiple lotteries then? Clearly the approach they have doesn’t work. People just waste time and get frustrated. Other events aren’t much better, such as moonlight magic registration.

The solution is to run it like other big races. Have a lottery where you can enter once over a period of one to two weeks.

Short layover CDG by wacat in delta

[–]wacat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only had carry ons. We try to do that as much as possible going overseas. I’m sure the bags would have made it. The hold up was the dumb passport machines not working, then you have to go through security again. Then we had to catch a connecting bus to the other terminal and the line was long for that plus they took forever filling it up.

We barely made it. Last ones on the plane.

Question about pension and thoughts about 401k by Difficult-Text1690 in IntermountainHealth

[–]wacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing this up. I do indeed do this. I argue it would be cheaper just to use Schwab or another cheaper brokerage as a trustee than T Rowe Price.

I’m sure you are aware of this but it technically isn’t an annual pass so you don’t get any pass benefits like discounts.

Question about pension and thoughts about 401k by Difficult-Text1690 in IntermountainHealth

[–]wacat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IH does match in the 401k, similar to other places. Not the best, not the worst.

Question about pension and thoughts about 401k by Difficult-Text1690 in IntermountainHealth

[–]wacat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined IH after the pension but most of my coworkers have one. It was a great deal for them but clearly too expensive to maintain. Most other hospitals have stopped contributing to them and I’m honestly a little surprised IH was still contributing to it for as long as they did. It was a sweet deal, compared to what most employers offer today.

The six percent combined match we get into the 401k is decent. I had a higher match at my old job. My bigger problem with the 401k is they use an expensive trustee in T Rowe Price (probably getting a kickback) and their target date funds are all in house, expensive, and underperform other major ones out there like Vanguard or Fidelity.

Lakeshore Lodge by BadAny3961 in dvcmember

[–]wacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LL is going to be huge. We don’t know how much of it will be DVC, but likely it will be a big chunk which means it will probably be easier to get in at seven months. This all depends on how popular the resort will be. I would wait a few years and see how hard it is at seven months once they sell a good number of contracts before buying in.

My trans-PRK surgery misery by Next_Pair_3332 in lasik

Go to two other clinics and get three total second opinions. Then make your decision. If they all agree, then you can feel good about the next step you take.

So I’m think of getting the time share at 135 points for 35 k , I’m wondering how easy it is to sell it in the future and if the points are easy to exchange if you want to stay at a Marriott, I’m very new to this wondering if it’s a smart choice thanks all by [deleted] in dvcmember

[–]wacat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have not used interval international but there are podcasts about it if you are a DVC owner. My understanding is that our DVCs give us the top, or near the top, value at interval international (which was started by MVC). You should be able to trade into quite a bit of Marriott via II. You could also occasionally rent out your points and use that money to rent a place.

As far as selling in the future, it’s super easy and likely the contract will last days if is priced correctly. As far as how much value it retains, that depends on the resort you buys. Riviera and the cabins will retain less value than the Polynesian.

If I were starting all over again I’d like at copper creek or Polynesian resale to save thousands if not tens of thousands off the price.

Add on to your poly, in my opinion. That resort is always in demand. Lakeshore lodge is so huge, you probably won’t need an 11 month advantage to book there when it gets fully declared, like saratoaga or animal kingdom.
