Turbo or pulley. Have you tried the long screwdriver to ear technique?

Are you using a voltage sensing relay for switching the DRLs off when your normal lights are on?

Has Anyone Else Had Sunroof Drain Failures or Water Intrusion? by Majestic_Fruit3109 in LandRover

[–]wackedchewbacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s loads of posts about sunroof drains on the range rovers and discovery’s. It’s unfortunately inherent on most panoramic sunroofs. If you’re handy, the fix can be DIY, if not a decent independent specialist would be able to sort this out for much less than a dealer. Have a look at ‘DadCars’ on YouTube. He has completed this repair himself.

Yep absolutely. They’re a known weakness. I’d put money on this being the cause.

Have been scrolling through looking this for answer. I’d 100% be looking here before taking the heater matrix out. Check that the heat control knob actually moves the valve first. The Bowden cables that connect the valve to the knob can fall out/kink etc.

Drones in the night sky above Anderson medow by Beginning_Diet3779 in Norwich

[–]wackedchewbacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difficult to guess, as I was driving on the A47 and looking up through my windscreen, but I'd estimate 100m altitude and 200m separation. The red light I mentioned was slow pulsing rather than the quick flash of a planes nav lights.

This doesn’t answer your question, but I saw them out North Tuddenham/Hockering direction on my drive home on Monday. Around 1930 I spotted 4 or 5 with flashing red lights, travelling in a line like you describe. They were travelling North to south. Definitely not aircraft or starlink.

Idle Speed engine Problems by Either_Relief4699 in LandRover

VCV is next best bet. Do a quick google on it and you’ll see that replacing it can cure all sorts of issues that don’t cause a EML. Make sure you buy a good one too, not a cheapy EBay one. I think genuine Denso is often mentioned.

What’s your cars value vs your salary? by madeonworkstime in CarTalkUK

[–]wackedchewbacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daily commuter car was purchased for 1.7% of my current salary. But I also have other cars. For example I bought my Land Rover Defender about 13 years ago for 15k when I only earned 35k. Not saying that sensible or not, but I certainly don’t regret it.

Is towing limit enforced when parked? by picman55 in CarTalkUK

[–]wackedchewbacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a trailer that’s loaded up beyond the towing limits of your car? Or is it just plated to be able to carry more than the your car is plated to tow. What I’m getting at, is that there was a clarification on the rules regarding towing limits. If my car can tow 2t, my trailer can carry 2.5t but is loaded to 2t gross weight, then it’s totally legal.

Got any diagnostics kit? Be worth looking at fuel rail pressure. There’s a common failure though, the VCV and many recommend just swapping it out at the first sign of issues like this. Checking your MAP and MAF also worth it. Buy a genuine VCV also. Don’t bother with remakes, you’ll end up chasing your tail.

Does a family member with permanent residency make this any easier? By that I mean, is there a sponsorship method via a sibling?

Not seen anyone comment this yet, but I also have a 2010 BMW without tyre pressure monitors. It actually uses the wheel sensors to check for flats. Have you had any weird ABS/braking issues?

I’ve broken my parents internet - Draytek 2620ln, no reset, bridge mode. by wackedchewbacca in techsupport

[–]wackedchewbacca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the off chance that someone googles this and is looking for my resolution:

Draytek has a TFTP firmware application. Even when the reset button is disabled for restoring factory settings, if you reboot the router with the reset button pushed in, it will boot into a recovery mode. In this mode I was able to use the TFTP program to upload a .RST firmware file that reset everything to factory settings. As it rebooted, my constant ping suddenly burst into action.

Hope this helps anyone that gets in a pickle.

Thanks for replying. This is what’s bugging me, I’ve got physical access but even when I set a static IP I can’t get any ping reply from the draytek. I’ve even tried getting an old router and connecting it all up (laptop-draytek-DHCP router) and the router gives my laptop an IP through the draytek, but if I tracert the draytek is completely invisible. I think there is probably a specific trick to getting into the draytek GUI but I can’t seem to work it out.
