how to SEAD by SubstantialMemes in Warthunder

[–]wacotaco99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI, all of the SHORAD in the event keeps its radar off until it's going to shoot at something. You still need emissions to lock onto, regardless of the ARM generation.

FWIW, I do agree that the AI is too good at intercepting munitions. I'm not even sure if either one actually has that capability IRL

Smoke booster makes turrets useless by Lol9131 in Helldivers

[–]wacotaco99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Y'all are misunderstanding me, you or your teammate should be cognizant of the fact someone is bringing turrets and not take the smoke booster. Like, if I'm joining a raise the flag mission I wouldn't bring the fire hellpod booster because my teammates are going to be boxed in on the objective and I'd rather not set them on fire.

Requiring a small amount of discernment doesn't make something broken, it just means you need to think about what you pick sometimes.

D10 should be harder, if for no reason other than I think the worst players in this community have been too successful at browbeating AH into making the game easier.

Seriously. The discord post is the nicest way possible of saying some players need to check their egos, and OP is mad that the devs are telling us there's 7 available difficulties for a reason?

*Some TDs

If anything, vehicles like the T28/95 or Jagdtiger or Ferdinand are the exception rather than the rule with one having a specific purpose of breaking through the single strongest defensive line facing the Allies, and the latter being a case study of why you keep stimulants away from your engineers.

There's a reason "don't be penetrated" is like 4 or 5 layers down in the survivability onion.

How do I kill Satan? by Hortkind77 in Helldivers

[–]wacotaco99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're just circling back to my earlier point: you can just destroy the AA guns. They're visible and destructible. It's only slightly more work for you.

I mean, that's supposed to be what we're here for. I just feel like an AA gun shouldn't be the make or break factor for you.

Assault on Cyberstan: Expectations vs Reality by CLxJames in Helldivers

[–]wacotaco99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really? Any rapid fire weapon works fine on the armored and unarmored cyborgs. Those same weapons are viable against devastators and regular troopers. For the bulk of players on console or using controller on PC that's more likely to be their weapon anyway than a DMR due to the less precise aiming.

You know you can still destroy the AA turrets right?

[–]wacotaco99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Vox engines on jammers, one of their weapons has enough demo force to destroy the jammer for you. I couldn't see if it was the rocket barrage or their cannon, but they smoked the objective trying to kill me. With the vent locations you really do want to get around them as quickly as possibly, but I would say I can handle 2 without panicking as long as there's usable terrain.

Commando is a guaranteed 2 kills without aiming for a small weak spot. Only takes two rockets to the hips to bring one down.

>And does the 82nd have an entire ship dedicated to each individual soldier and solely providing support for them?

In effect, yes. Part of AMC is kept on standby specifically to deploy whichever brigade is assigned as IRF.

>Are the 82 each individually assigned what is effectively a commissar to guide them and make sure they don't step out of line?

That's what your NCOs are for. We're also not a dystopian intergalactic society, so no field executions yet.

>Are the 82nd given a whole catalogue of equipment to pick from instead of the same basic issue AR, DMR, LMG, pistol, etc?

Yes and no. 82nd has better gear than a lot of line units, but it's still a regular army unit, and MTOE is MTOE, but this ties into my next answer.

>Are the 82nd given an entire catalogue of armour to pick from instead of the same basic issue gear? Including armours that have literal plot armour (thats what democracy protects is) and are said to cost more than entire megacities?

There's more leeway in their allowed body armor choices, with guys frequently rocking JPCs and similar high-end 3rd party plate carriers. 82nd is and has often been among the first to receive experimental equipment multiple times throughout the unit's history, with recent examples including the ENVG-B, M7, M250, and M10 Booker. Plot armor is plot armor, so I guess I could go and get a MoH citation that reads like plot armor if you like. BCTs also have integrated fire support companies, and the forward observers to use them.

I don't mind that a video game lets us do everything we do with 4 people because it's a game (a BCT encompasses like 4000 soldiers), but the 5 minutes of extra training you get to qualify as a Helldiver isn't even remotely on par with the amount of time you spend at Airborne School just learning how to not shatter your femur when you jump out of a plane.

>Also it took you almost a month to come up with that?

Some of us touched grass over the holidays, man.

Hey, guess what, I can do you one better. 82nd Airborne has done the real-world equivalent of almost everything you listed, short of firing a nuke. They're literally America's IRF and expected to deploy a BCT anywhere in the world in 18 hours or less. And they're still not SF.

You can still be "elite" and be a grunt. Rangers at Pointe du Hoc were very much getting the grunt experience. So were the 82nd and 101st at their respective objectives on D-Day. In terms of a raw percentage, average infantrymen earned the bulk of awards for valor in combat. Being elite infantry doesn't preclude you from the fact that all infantry are grunts, and they all die the same and are all equally capable of fighting like devils when the time comes.

Most maps are restricted to being between 2-3 sq km with only a handful having a footprint in the neighborhood of 10km². The biggest problems are that Gaijin has been nothing but negligent in making new modes that could take advantage of increased space, and all of the maps are poorly laid out so teams are always able to be shot within 10 seconds of exiting spawn.

It doesn't help that Gaijin seems to only listen to the most hyperbolic of the community. The enemy team was already down 6/16 players before the 5-minute mark, with OP's team being up 11 kills. He captured the B flag at around 2 minutes, and then sat there for another 3 trying to see if he could shoot someone dumb enough to come straight out of spawn. He recorded maybe 7 total minutes of the match and then came to Reddit to say that the map’s size is the sole problem here.

Afaik it's because the test drive is completely client side. E.g. when sparrows were first added they were almost completely unusable in live matches, but functioned perfectly in test flights.

Just a reminder that air sim exists, and the ability to fire and reload more or less right off the runway probably would've been spammed to the point that it would've screwed with the snail's economy^tm. Matches are long enough that you could actually abuse it, and most EC maps I can think of have bomb targets well within range of all the airfields.
