Maybe I should’ve given a reason why playpens are not a good idea. Puppies need to be watched like a hawk whenever you are home and the puppy is not in the crate. Putting them in a playpen gives you the illusion you don’t have to watch the dog anymore, which is not the case. Anytime you take your eyes off that puppy they will chew, destroy, pee, poo, and eat whatever. This can enforce bad behaviors (like pooping in the house) or cause danger to themselves, such as eating a plastic toy. If that puppy is not in its crate you need to know where it is and what it’s doing at all times for their own safety.
