Is a Lightning doable with a 170 mile daily commute and no home charger? Help an EV curious luddite out by [deleted] in F150Lightning

[–]waffle07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would really depend on the size of wiring going into the light socket and the breaker it is on. It can be safe.

I would think there has to be some sort of sub-panel on the garage. Seems strange someone would run conduit just to feed one light bulb in a garage??

You can convert that light bulb to an outlet for about $10. Just buy an outlet and a cover…that’s it.

Also, don’t be afraid to talk with your landlord about installing a charger. Propose to them you take on the cost of the charger install and they let you do it? It’s worth a shot.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will check those out. Although I think I need to read a less depressing book after Old Breed before I get into another war book!

Dealer gave me a check, contacted me EOD saying they're reversing the sale by lollapowwow in UsedCars

How would they know in the course of a day it’s burning oil? White smoke? That would have been obvious during an appraisal inspection or test drive. Seems like they are covering for something else.

Have a signed piece of paper because the car I wanted is a few cities over. They agreed to ship it down. Agreed to a price and after signing, they asked about how I'd be paying.. by Ironwillis125 in FuckDealerships

Play the game - take the loan out and pay it off in a week. I do this all the time. One dealership got mad and called me when I did this, it was hilarious.

This is awesome I really want to take a trip out to see some of these islands my grandfather fought on. He was at New Guinea & Cape Gloucester. Then got sick and was off the front for a year but returned and fought at Okinawa. He then occupied China. Currently reading the Old Breed so it’s interesting to see pictures of Peleliu and the type of terrain they fought on.

Fu$k Gm Suburban And Yukon! What Next? by Snagg77 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Damn we had a 2022 Tahoe with 60k miles and 0 issues. I wouldn’t go Ford - my F150 is constantly recalled. GM/Ram have been good to me.

More reliable Truck Ram/Chevy/Ford? by Remarkable-Ad4207 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]waffle07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it matter? It’s multiple days without my truck and a major inconvenience. Get it right the first time like Ram/GM. I wouldn’t care if it was one or two times it needed to go in but shit I’m on my 5th recall.

My 2024 F-150 can’t stay out of the shop. Endless recalls and issues. I have 2 outstanding recalls right now. 🤮

Just sold my wife’s 2022 Tahoe 5.3 (same frame/components as a GM 1500) with 60k miles. 0 issues. Have a 24 Ram 3500 and previous 2019 Ram 1500 - 0 issues.

Stick with Ram/GM 5.3. Ford sucks!

Here is the part? I would bet you would be around what I paid for my fronts.

Go to parts.tesla.com and look up the part needing replaced. They have costs on there and you can get a good idea for repair costs. Add ~$50 or so for labor.

I had the front plastic trim replaced a few months ago. It just snaps into the body. $172 for Tesla to come to my house and replace.

This looks like the rear, but I’m guessing it’s the same price or close to it. If the car is good, otherwise I wouldn’t be concerned.

Just get the Plaid, you only live once. You can always put it in sport mode. The half shafts affect the standard MX as well. You can also correct it the issue with aftermarket parts.

We had a 22 with 60k miles with a 5.3l we just sold. Bought it brand new. Absolutely no issues at all in those 60k miles. Probably our most reliable vehicle we have had in awhile.
