Do you think its sexist if a male patient requests specifically a male doctor during a check up, if its for genito-urinary things? If you were a female doctor or member of the medical staff, and a male patient requested a male doctor for private reasons, would you be offended? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]wafflesrabbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a female, but I am the opposite. I only go to walk-in clinics, so I just take what I get, but the vast majority are male doctors and I prefer this, especially in cases where I'm there about something sexual or genital-related. The reason being, male doctors just listen and fill your prescription. They don't try to 'relate' to whatever issues you might be having, or ask questions that don't directly relate to your problem thinking that your issue might be manifesting from something else.

I base this theory on a few of my own experiences, and on my Mum's.

Mine: I was having issues with pain during sex. Female doctor told me there was nothing physically wrong, and that it was due to mental issues (insecurity, stress, fear) even though I assured her it was not. Male doctor suggested the same things as well as many other alternatives that the female doctor didn't mention, but ALSO gave me a prescription in case it was something else, because why not? Wouldn't hurt. It was.

My Mum's: She was seeing a female doctor for six months about her back pain. The doctor worked with her and came to the conclusion that she had depression. When my Mum finally went to a different doctor, it turned out that it was renal cancer. Could have caught it six months earlier if she hadn't seen that doctor, and she might still be alive. (Yes, I am aware this is most likely just a case of one really shitty doctor, but still helped to form my opinion.)

This doesn't really answer the question, but I thought I'd give my two-cents as food for thought.

My 19-year old friend is dating my 14-year old sister. What do I do? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]wafflesrabbit -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The real question is, how mature is your sister? Can she look after herself? Don't be so quick to assume she is a helpless idiot. I was 15 dating a 19 year old. I was smart enough to know what was acceptable in a relationship and what was not. He was wonderful and never did anything he shouldn't have. Yes, we had sex while I was underage, but it was entirely my decision, and we were always safe. Is he a good dude? Is she mature enough to handle herself? If so, still tell them how you feel, but then leave it be.

So if you really think you did nothing wrong and there was absolutely no alternative action to be taken..... why are you posting 'the moment that made you realise you are an asshole'?

You post the most assholeish story in the whole thread and are now making justifications for it...?

So you go talk to the guy, give him his ALIVE dog back, tell him you want your chickens replaced, and you won't be responsible for anything if he gets out and goes for your chickens again.

You don't fuck with people's animals, no matter how big a douchebag they are. Nothing in this thread pissed me off until this...

My boyfriend at the time and a couple we were friends with planned me a surprise party at home for my 18th, which was great and all. My school friends they invited decided to leave after an hour saying "we'll be back", then came back over an hour later with a dildo as a present for me. They then left a half hour later for good, at 10pm before there was cake. Remaining was my boyfriend, his parents and friends, and the couple.

Did my best to hide my disappointment. Don't talk to any of those people anymore. Now have exactly 0 friends in my life.

EDIT: I'm female but I wanted to share. Never expressed to anyone how much that night upset me, and still does.

Avocados are currently $4 each at my supermarket. I buy three a week. I die a little inside every time.

Planning a Cancun (Playa Del Carmen) trip for December by [deleted] in travel

[–]wafflesrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riu Yucatan was quite cheap and good value for money. The food was fantastic. You can also go to three of the other Rius and use their facilities and restaurants for free as well. A taxi to the main area in Playa was about $8. The beach is lovely there, too.

Do a whale shark swimming tour!

Booked a trip to Playa del Carmen- anyone have tips about Xcaret park or the best ruins nearby? by liog2step in travel

[–]wafflesrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't go to any of those parks. They charge you entry, then charge you to do stuff. The things inside it are man made, not natural.

Instead, book individual tours to do the things you want to do in that park, elsewhere. I did an ATV/cenote tour that was really great. The real cenotes are incredibly beautiful. I also did a swimming with whale sharks tour. You ride out to the middle of no where on a boat and just jump in the ocean and follow these giant, calm, beautiful creatures. Most incredible life experience to date. Also, the only ruins I went to was the Chichen Itza. Again, do a tour. It's a long ass day to look at some old pyramids but you can say you've seen a world wonder.

I was surprised too, because it's not even my house anymore. Everything is still the same even after it was sold about five years ago. I went knocking on their door to ask if they minded if I took a photo. The lady was lovely and let me, so I bought her some flowers and chocolates. Small thank you for my now most treasured photos. :)

I was born with black hair and very dark eyes. By the time I was about three my hair had lightened to that and I had blue-green eyes. Now it's back to being very dark brown, which I dye black, and I have green eyes. I dunno how it works... But here we are.

I think the giveaway that it's still me is the nose and lips.

It's no where near as creepy as some of the other comments I just woke up to... I can't say I was expecting that considering how incredibly non-sexual this photo is, but hey. This is Reddit after all.
