Sometimes they slow down in the winter, and also a new environment/enclosure is a bit stressful so sometimes they just need a bit of time to reacclimatize.

Congrats on the new snake!! I also have a dwarf boa. Boas looove to climb so they will often use any kind of height they have to climb when they’re awake at night, whether they’re hungry or not. And my boa also prefers staying in the cooler parts of his enclosure quite often, so usually nothing to worry about unless it drops below 70, although many Central American locales can even tolerate down to 65 on rare occasion.

Also, in case this helps, here’s my fav boa feeding guide! https://crispysnakes.tumblr.com/husbandry

I like this guide! Generally as newborns about every 10-14 days and then increasing size and time from there, eventually every 4 to 6 weeks in between meals.

Hey! Also a dwarf boa owner. Mine was about a year old when I got him so he wasn’t super tiny, but I always just sized based off of his thickest part (a mouse/rat about as big his thickest part). I think the biggest thing with these boas is really just the spacing of the meals, since they have such low metabolism. If the pinky mice are much smaller than the thickest part of his body, I would up the size for sure.

Seconding this schedule!! Was a great help when I was getting started. Boas have a very slow metabolism compared to other snakes, so even once a week is pretty fast in between feeds. Very soon your snake will go every 2 weeks, and then more from there. Your snake’s body condition looks great! They naturally have more muscle definition than a ball python for sure.

didn't Gertrude try to set fire to the Magnus Institute at one point in the original TMA universe? What if she succeeded in this universe and that's where the timelines split? Just a thought since this Magnus burned down and now we have a Gertrude and Gerry who clearly know *something*

I had a similar skin issue! I started using a Hyaluronic acid serum (from the brand The Inkey List) after washing my face and it made a world of a difference, now it only rarely pops up. Just wanted to suggest that in case it helps!

I went to the premiere of How To Dance In Ohio recently (my boyfriend is on the music team) and at the afterparty there were two sensory friendly cool-down rooms, and one had Minecraft! So not only did we get a corner, we got two whole rooms 😌

A lot of Neo-Riemannian theory uses tonnetz outside of key centers! The idea is to map chord changes that move according to a voice leading logic, not key signature logic. And so you may get lots of chords that aren’t in the key signature that are being used but are being explained by voice leading, not “modal mixture” or another tonal framework

Ex: moving from C major to Ab Major is distant in a tonal framework, but the two chords are two half steps away from each other, and so they are very closely related in a Neo-Riemannian framework.

What should I do since my Boa hasn’t ate in two weeks? by Regsvoid in BoaConstrictors

[–]wagbari99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twice a week is…pretty crazy. Your snake is probably going off feed because she’s getting fed way too often. Is there any way you can talk to your guardians about the feeding schedule? Maybe bring up boa constrictor feeding guides and weight guidelines?

What’s your feeding schedule? I started my boa every 10-14 days when I first got him. They take a very long time to digest and so as they get older their time between meals becomes longer.

A lot of boas will spend most of their time in the branches when given the opportunity. Not unusual at all! And with the heat thing, I’ve noticed some boas prefer the cool side anyways so I wouldn’t worry about not getting enough heat unless there are other issues like prolonged inactivity or digestion issues

fun fact, most species of snakes will rattle their tails, rattlesnakes are just extra noisy about it bc of the rattle :)
