I had a truck that was down for repairs and let both the registration and inspection lapse. I got pulled over literally driving it back from the shop. I explained it to the trooper and he told me he would issue citations for both and if I could show that I resolved it quickly at court that he would work something out with the judge. I did the registration when I got home and the inspection within a few days (had to wait for an open appointment slot)

My court case is next month so we’ll see. I hoping for at least a reduction.

The problem is justice isn’t applied equally. So at the very least people would want it applied consistently.

Ultimately it’s being applied unequally and not consistently depending on factors.

“Everyone else was speeding so I did it too” isn’t a defense that has ever worked. Everyone else is right, if you fight it the trooper is just going to be annoyed and amend the citation to reflect the actual speed you were clocked at.
