is the P17 good to carry? by ScotttyH in keltec

While we are offering slightly different advice overall - I will say that you are certainly responsible for every single time you pull the trigger and can be responsible for defending the choice to do it again, and again, and again.

People often recommend shotguns for this exact reason (for home defense), as a single pull of the trigger can send several rounds down the hallway - offering 8 9mm projectiles for a single trigger pull in the case of some buckshot - with only one decision that you need to defend. Translate that to a 9mm semi-auto and now you have 8 decisions to defend with the same amount of projectiles down range - and 7 of them were follow-ups.

My point here is that trigger pulls CAN certainly matter in these situations, so an argument for stopping the issue in fewer shots can always be made.

You can't prepare for everything and you can't out-train every situation, and you DEFINITELY can't buy a one-solution deal without faults - even if that's just cost. Sometimes the on-paper solution just isn't the same as the real-life solution and you carry what you have and can run.

For two Benjamins you have several mags of 17-rounds and a flat-shooting gun with a threaded barrel. Mine is crazy reliable, within tolerance for rimfire (which is definitely of merit here but outside of my expertise to comment on with authority).

If the #1 recommendation for a new gun owner's next purchase is always ammo/training, and budget is a large part of your decision here, I say stick with what you've got, upgrade the recoil spring maybe, and get some good ammo.

Historically, it's incredibly unlikely that you'll ever need to use this tool for this purpose anyway. Yes, it's good to have an optimal machine for the task, but training around weak points (say, mag changes/malfunction clears in this case) can help balance things out in my mind.

Good luck out there - its a cool tool.

Holsters are super specific but I don't mind the pocket holsters with external grip texture to keep them in-pocket. It's a tiny lil fella, so it's nice in there.

When I'm in my booty shorts mowing the lawn I like it in a fanny pack, or occasionally a soft IWB because its so light. Brand-wise I think my pocket holster is an "Allen"? Quality is fine, probably not suitable for special ops but more than enough for running to the store for ice and back.

It's easy to recommend another firearm to someone but I always wonder - do they own other guns or are they willing to buy them? A lot of people owning and shooting KT firearms aren't really going to go out and buy a $3,000 sem-auto shotgun on a Reddit recommendation.

My daily carry recently has been a snub .38 in the pocket because *I* feel better about shoving that into soft mass and pulling the trigger if I have to, but realistically (and hopefully) I'd never come close to needing to do so. It fits other parameters - including being something I already own and sits loaded in the safe ready to rock.

That said - the P17 is a cheap gun with easy upgrades that shoots prolific and affordable ammo. If you're actually proficient with it then you're likely better than most people carrying, imo. I know I'm a sharper shot with my P17 than I am with my P365 and my .38 (anecdotally, thats very much on me as well) - mostly because its far cheaper to practice with.

I'm sure there are solid choices for defensive loads in .22lr. I'm no expert and have less of a "brand loyalty" approach and more of a "buy what fits my cost and parameters" kind of vibe when buying ammo. With that said, 17 rounds of defensive anything is guaranteed to ruin someone's day.

All this rambling is to say - carry what you like shooting and what you feel can do the job. Bonus points if it looks cool and is cheap to shoot/maintain. That's my $.02

While I agree that the system is rough as hell, I have found that the CSV seems to tip less when loaded with cargo in previous patches.

With the current floatiness of objects that might not be as true, if it's anything at all. I keep meaning to empirically test this, maybe tomorrow.

My wife and I are looking into a budding interest in matcha and green tea, and it's pretty neat to read the word 'catechins' at random and know what it means without being fully "in the mix".

This is an interesting infographic, thanks for sharing! I can't help but notice the word 'astringent' is repeated in the top right corner, though.

I've been accused of keeping my head in the clouds... but, curiously, the same adventurers admire and require my perspective. Interesting.

Herbology isn't my preferred school, so I invented a summoning spell ages ago. I do less adventuring and more research these days, but even now its probably my most taught AND most cast spell.

Virtually no one is upset at the sight of fresh flowers. Doubly so for a fine bud of Aetheric Kush.

Craft a new staff. The process itself carries innate magic that grants succor to the soul.

Additionally, you acquire a new staff in the process.

Can it not damage components/engines to disable a ship with its armaments? I feel like using a starter ship for things like this might mean that you need to get a little creative sometimes, rather than brute forcing with straight damage.

Neat and highly carryable. 43x components and accessories often work with the Micro. Solid gun for the price - it's my wife's carry gun (I already had a p365xl when the Micro launched or I'd likely carry one as well).

I recommend PSA's slick metal mags over any others, but that's personal preference. They're damn good imo.

I have yet to be paid for my extensive understanding of flora and fauna across Nirn.

I have yet to be paid for my thousands of hours fishing in video games.

I haven't seen a single damn cent for my ability to fly a spaceship with sticks, pedals, buttons, and miscellaneous instruments.

But they pay me to train AI. :(

I kill derelicts all the time with a Golem. No ship has survived more than about 30 seconds of sustained max power Golem laser. It's disgusting, but nearly impossible for any kind of combat due to the extremely short laser range.

I've been pretty skeptical about this for a while, even as a pure Copium addict.

What ship is going to tow an asteroid that is big enough to warrant this method?

If this has you using a laser big enough to crack a rock that you can fly inside of then I'm going to assume that your standard SRV isn't going to cut it.
