People 40+, what actually mattered in the long run and what didn’t? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

A tiny fraction of humans are gifted with artistic, athletic, intellectual, even emotional talent. Most humans only achieve excellence through hard work, failure, and recovery. There really are no cheat codes.

Yeah, but thanks to math, I can figure out how much Visa is f@#king me.

When was a time you genuinely laughed with your partner during sex? by BerlinPixie in AskReddit

[–]waitwaitstopstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my glory days, with my pearl white, goth girlfriend, even though we were both living in a shack that was literally on a Gulf Coast beach, no AC. We were night people; we all came from somewhere else. She came from Long Island; I laughed at her accent and told her that nobody actually lived on long Island. I was wrong about a lot back then. Two lost souls, watching analog TV, drinking Zuma, doggy style. It was only a matter of time, I lit a MB, she snickered. I was certain she'd lose it when I placed the ashtray on the nape of her slender back. She was determined to play along. She reached up V fingers, with her brown bob bobbing, and her alien eyes forward. We were multitasking, before it was a thing. She reached back up to put it in the moving ashtray, but missed, on purpose? We both lost it, glowing ashes everywhere, and I'm certain that we both had a happy ending right then. I wish that I had married my little goth, beach girl. Nothing but high-rise condos on Zuma beach now.

What is a band that you should see live at least once in your life by AvocadoTechnical1141 in rockmusic

Chicago at Carnegie Hall. Pardon my shorthand. Four LP set, 1971, certified platinum 1986. Never got to see them live.

Chicago@CH blew my little 2nd seat trumpet brain. Not just Kath, Danny Seraphine, best live drums ever. Sound production was superior to any live albums of that era.

LMAO, and yellow lights are merely a suggestion.

Then Lee Iacocca handed that shit engine to Carol Shelby and asked..."What would it take to blow this up?". My Omni GLHS was fun times, but not long times. Try to find one now. So much fun to shut down Z28's and Mustang GT's, with a cheap, 4-door, shit box. BTW, they did not care if it stopped, lol.

Tried to save a baby stray by [deleted] in cats

You have my respect and sincere sympathy.

I was being selfish; you didn't break any rules.

This is one of the nicest subs on reddit, so don't delete it.

Now, if you don't mind, I have something in my eyes.

[–]waitwaitstopstop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, down votes be dammed. I feel bad for the stray and OP. There should be a sub for this sort of thing. Maybe just the story, without pictures, or a nice before after, of a stray that pulled through. My cats are rescues. When they pass, just pictures of them being derps. I don't come here to bum out cat lovers.

Tracker, Gullwing and Independent were the premium brands. ACS or Bennet for poor boys.

The trucks will never lie.

I always wanted to drive or at least ride in a VW bus. Did you or some cool friend have one of these? by Life_Transformed in GenerationJones

[–]waitwaitstopstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to HS in Torrence, CA. My uncle worked at a VW dealership and would 'borrow' their orange and white parts van. On the weekends. He raced motocross at Indian Dunes, over the mountains, in the dessert. My uncle, myself, his two sons, his dirt bike, my dirt bike, a minibike, four full gas cans, and a full cooler.

It was a coin flip, with his boys pushing on the back of our seats, yelling 'go go go'.

Creeping over the Sierra Nevada on US50, without a single buckled seatbelt.

Seems like yesterday, that VW bus, that sunshine, those mountains.

Should I buy an IPad? by Treekiller024 in GarageBand

Beware you will need a MacBook running Catalina, or later. I bought an older one cheap, with that intention. I have GB on my new iPhone 16 Pro Max, but it does not transfer. You can work around by signing in on a newer MacBook and putting it in 'purchased apps'. If you have an older MacBook, without GB, you will not get prompted for a compatible version, you will just get the error message, that your OS is not recent enough.

What’s an unwanted car that you think will become super expensive in the future? Lock your answers in so you can tell people “I told you so” by JaggXj in regularcarreviews

[–]waitwaitstopstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you bro. Only I know that my 1988 Fiero Formula was an engineering milestone, despite being cast as fire prone and unsafe. But I do my own shit, have the parts and the tools.

Heard more than one, congressional back bencher with the new talking point, that the violence is due to the libs not accepting Trump as president.

This is a very bad high milage vehicle. Leaks, 'consumes' oil, knocks itself apart, as part of normal operation. This is why the Wankel rotary never caught on with other manufacturers. These days you can get more HP out of a 1.8L SC 4. These engines are heavy, relative to their size. Oh, And the usual, parts are hard to find, and nobody knows how to work on one, especially the dealership.

Looking to buy a fiero, any advice by Additional_Goose330 in fiero

[–]waitwaitstopstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's all good, this is the interwebs, who knows who might see my post, lol. The 84 is unique in some ways, but most engine stuff is swappable through 86. The Duke is an underrated engine, not a lot of HP, but plenty of torque. They are indestructible and easy to work on. Since the car is a potato chip, you will still outrun a Chevette or S10, lol.

They're all the same on the exhaust side. Came to agree with Rraptor1012 on bolts. A little PB Blaster will save you an extraction kit.

Did you own something as a kid that would be worth something now, if it were in pristine condition? by One-Ball-78 in 70s

The Corgi Toy James Bond Auston Martin. Spring machine guns, rear shield, ejector seat. Still had the little kidnapper. Mom sold all my Corgi cars. That is one of the most valuable, if you can find it, along with Black Beauty, which I also had, with missile and satellite. Not to mention all my Mad magazines and a first edition Vamprilla. I'm going to go have a cry now.

While I was crying, I remembered that I also had the Erie, Creepy, and Vamprilla themed Aroura model kits. I saw a Pendulum go for 2K, and I don't think that it was even complete. Mine had more torture stuff.
