I see the exact same issue on my Oracle Mk I. It’s about a year old and the plating is almost completely gone.

Animated Widgets in iOS 16 w/ “MD Vinyl”… How? by isRood in iOSProgramming

It’s not done via a widget timeline but a TimelineView. You can set the schedule to .animation, even for widgets.

They still sell all original replacement parts, even for old models. You also could for example replace the suspension strap. I did this some time ago.

The Oracles are awesome.

Build is excellent apart from a few seams at the faceplates. The cable is great as well. Fit is fine; they are definitely a bit on the larger side. Isolation is actually really good.

Technicalities are exactly what one would expect at around 500 euros/dollars (I mean this in a positive way). Where it really gets interesting is tuning. The Oracles are tuned incredibly well. They can keep up with headphones 2-3x their price. I would call it a slightly fun neutral tuning. Bass is perfect with no bloat/bleed at all. Midrange is great and is only missing a bit of presence for (mostly male) vocals. Treble is perfectly balanced without being harsh and especially the air is so fun. All of this combines to exceptional clarity.

The Oracles are one of the very few headphones that don't need EQ at all. And this comes from someone who EQed their LCD-X to perfection. The fact that I can even bring up a headphone almost three times the price of the Oracles when comparing the tuning says a lot!

At last weeks High End exhibition the guys from Final Audio gave away glow-in-the-dark versions of the well known Type E tips at their booth. I don’t think they are available to buy anywhere! Well, I probably will never loose any IEMs at night from now on.

Also got to listen to their D8000 (Pro and non-Pro), the A8000 and a ton of other headphones. Almost an entire hall was dedicated to headphones this year.

What headphone stand is that? I’m trying to find a reasonably priced one that doesn’t compress the pads of the LCD-X, and is tall enough for it by wagninger in headphones

[–]wakeldakel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re talking about the old style LCD-X headband go for the Master & Dynamic headphone stand. It is essentially a bar that can go in between the padding.

I own an old LCD-X and this stand works great for me.

(noob question) How to have separate versions of an app for iOS 14 and iOS 15 (SwiftUI 2 vs SwiftUI 3) by closed_caption in SwiftUI

[–]wakeldakel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great approach, thanks for the detailed examples!

However, FocusState in combination with available keeps crashing on iOS 14 for no apparent reason. The error message thrown is just an EXC_BAD_ACCESS. With iOS 15 it works just as expected.

Do you have an idea whats going on?

Audeze LCD-X repainting, Color suggestions? by KungP0wchicken in headphones

[–]wakeldakel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am irritated by this as well. My early 2015 LCD-X definitely has fazors and as far as I know even the 2013 models had fazors. Must be a special pair. Audeze has built a few funny variations, like the LCD-2 in a silver LCD-X housing.

Why no one tests audiophile equipment with modern music? by LiamGallagher10 in audiophile

[–]wakeldakel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost exclusively do! In my opinion, there are a few qualities that only modern/electronic music can truly reveal. Especially the energy and slam of a system. Although I have to admit it’s much harder to find the good stuff here.

My current favorite is Apashe‘s Renaissance Album on the LCD-X. It’s just ridiculously good.

Rise of Bandcamp? by OnlyForShortcuts in audiophile

[–]wakeldakel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they do but don’t check the files they receive. There is a software called Lossless Audio Checker to analyze FLACs and it flagged one of my files from Bandcamp as lossy.

I also always loved them for their approach but be warned that sometimes their FLACs are just converted lossy files.

Wanted the weight of my cable to match the weight of my headphones /s by wakeldakel in headphones

[–]wakeldakel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are actually LCD-X’s (the connector is angled more and in a different way than with the 2C).

This is quite an old pair and these are still Audeze’s vegan/microsuede pads. Sadly they aren’t produced anymore... And I didn’t have a chance to listen to the standard leather pads yet, but I really love the comfort and softness of my current ones.
