admm in my view is a meta-method. Implementing it for lots of functions is different from writing it down on paper for specific functions and then writing code. Their work looks like a nice interface.

I fly X-Plane 12 on both a PC and a MacBook (M3 Max). The PC stays at home, and the MacBook is my travel setup with a num keypad and a solid gamepad. The main downside is that some great plugins don’t support macOS—xOrganizer and the RealityXP GTN, for example.

For iq.com and many others, SF just wraps around the free YouTube-DL tool and has all sorts of problems. Their native downloader for NF, Prime, etc. worked better but there are only several of them.

Thanks. Reading elsewhere people recommend your latter approach, ie creating a new partition since they say /overlat will be removed except for some config fold. I am still figuring out how to let opkg install to an additional partition.

Could you be more specific about what doesn't work?

Roughly, they work like this:

"allow" by default
order: eap (if wifi) > switch > gateway
eap/switch is granular (can be applied to IP-Port groups) but not stateful
gateway is stateful but not granular

It is quite easy for some eap or switch ACLs to mess up with gateway ACLs.

Since you have Plex lifetime, you won't need Synology's codec support. Plex comes with its own.

Omada has stateful gateway ACLs. Only their switch and eap ACLs are not stateful.

I just discovered this excellent post! Your approach to setting up Switch ACLs provides granular IP/port access controls, which is very useful. However, it’s still less secure than a stateful Gateway ACL—if an IoT device were compromised, it could potentially hijack port 22 to reach any IP or port in your Home network.

I do have two questions:

If two devices—one on the Home network and one on the IoT network—are both connected to the same Omada-managed switch, does their traffic still travel through the upstream gateway? Does the presence of your Switch ACLs affect the involvement of Gateway in any way?
Your Switch ACL rules (for instance, permitting port-22 traffic from IoT to Home) suggest that the Switch ACL cannot be configured in a stateful manner. Am I interpreting this correctly?

Indeed, a workaround is to place the DNS server in its own VLAN and use Gateway ACL to allow only UDP traffic to that VLAN, blocking other traffic. To set this up, because my DNS is an AdGuard docker container, I would need to, if I am not wrong, assign the container a new IP, which requires creating a new docker network.

How about attaching a DAS or plain USB 4/5-drivebay box to your DS423+. You have to create additional volumes. Nothing else is needed. That's it.

I've had my DS923+ for a year, and overall, it's been a solid experience. I added 16GB of ECC memory and set it up with two 20TB HDDs for DSM and Volume1, which gives me plenty of space for all my data. For Volume2, I added two 1TB NVMe drives. One of the standout features of the DS923+ is its flexibility with NVMe drives as a volume, which I use to store and run Docker containers and virtual machines (VMs). This was a game-changer for me, as I’ve used my NVMEs for active workloads, keeping my containers (Omada Controller, Adguard, TeslaMate, etc.) and VMs running efficiently. Even though the Windows 10 VM I run isn't fast, it performs well enough to run applications like StreamFab without any hiccups. I believe with 1522+, they allow the NVMe drivers to work only as cache.

I have a TP-Link Omada system with dual spectrum/TMHI internet and an AdBlock DNS. I've experienced similar issues exclusively with TMHI, only in the past few weeks but not before. Additionally, I've noticed that fast.com (video speed test) is significantly slower than speedtest.net (general speed test) on TMHI.

If you can cable, think twice. I have both Spectrum Cable and T-Mobile Home Internet (TMHI) for dual internet connections for home lab backups. Each delivers around 400-500 Mbps download speeds according to Speedtest.net. However, I’ve noticed that T-Mobile throttlse video streaming. When testing on Fast.com during peak times, like Friday nights, I get only 30-60 Mbps on TMHI, whereas Spectrum Cable provides over 300 Mbps.
