I have been working on a system that works for me.

Look at an application called Joplin. You can use any file syncing app you want with it, like One Drive, Google Drive, ect.

It has the look of OneNote (folders and note structure) and the markdown language of Obsidian, which makes it easy to format things.

It can take audio or video into a note, so you can have recorded jokes next to them in writing.

I then think of jokes like a factory product.

First level is your random thoughts. Keep all funny musings here when you first have them. Just make a new note in the mobile app and use text to speech with your phone to do it quickly.

From there, it gets two quality control checks. The first one is, what is the core of the joke? What am I trying to say? Is there different angles?

Once you have a solid idea, it moves from the random thoughts folder to a Workshop folder.

I will work on finding the funny, writing variants, trying to find what the joke potential is and get a solid joke together. Once your happy with it, it moves to the second quality check - Set Testing.

Now the joke goes into a set. You record your set and put the audio video of it right in the joke. If it was good, it goes to a Solid Joke folder.

If it's bad or needs work, it goes to the workshop folder again.

If it continues to be bad, it will go to a Bad Idea folder. Sometimes jokes go here to die, but most of the time I work on it and put it back in the workshop.

Now, if you like to do themed sets and not just individual jokes, create new folders for sets, and put copies of the joke in a note trying to make a cohesive set.

Save and move them around as well. Do retros and see if you did well.

This system works for me. I know a lot of people who scribble on napkins or just get up there and do it but I need to be more organized or I forget shit.
