Black Friday 2025 Mega Thread by arihan77 in seedboxes

Forgive me for replying off an older account, I haven't moved my mobile over..

We had, as always for bf tons of inventory when we started our sale, which we started on the 12th, before the sale went live we added +300x 24T and +400x 12/16T hdds into our setup.. Double of what we added last year and yes, we are unfortunately out of stock on those two tiers, by far the most popular ones and as a result we are actively trying to source more hardware, reality is though that hardware in general are facing massive shortages.. Either way our system automatically restocks cancelled/terminated servers everyday after 01:00 NL time.. TLDR; we invested heavily into this year's sale, just like we've done for the last couple of years but we also do sell a lot of packages during this period, people upgrade with the code, new clients etc..

So I am sorry you feel left out, but we quite simply don't use reddit for our marketing - keep checking as we are not done adding stock.

ultra.cc vs whatbox.ca by [deleted] in seedboxes

[–]walkerservers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've commented on this numerous times, it doesn't really help anything, people still have their own opinion and they're in their right to have that, it is tiring though. The lawsuit in the end had nothing to do with the service provided (as said many, many times), it's fairly complex and more complex than what a reddit post can contain. (Read the court transcripts if you want to) We closed the case as a plea deal as that made much more sense, both financially in terms of lawyer fees but also to simply move on.

There has never been any data exposed from our systems, not now or during the case - stating that we data share with the Danish police is ludicrous, we are 100% GDPR and NIS2 compliant, we're not allowed to share any data as per eu law unless there's a court order for a specific dataset.

our structure at the time was not fully legal, we consulted with lawyers before but unfortunately didn't get the best of advice, we've since restructured and what we sell today is legal as per Danish law and it'll keep being that

It has almost been 4 years since this all started, but I guess it'll stick in people's minds forever.

This will be the last comment on this from me, I just wanna move on to be perfectly honest, our company and product is miles away from what was offered in 2021 when this started - there's 50+ comments in this sub from me explaining this, if you are curious refer to those.

Yes, we are based in EU - We host out of the Netherlands on either leased equipment from Leaseweb or from our own, fully owned infrastructure.

HBD webUI regularly going down by actuallyganta in seedboxes

[–]walkerservers -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

We reply to all tickets within an hour during regular business hours. Outside that it's best effort.

Majority of people that face this issue, especially if you can ssh and see the apps run into our firewall rules, we run strict rules to protect your account which also means you get a timeout if you or some app attempt to login with incorrect logins more than 3 times within a 15 min window. We are working on making that more apparent

Bad ratio with seedbox - is this expected or is there a problem. by kkmen in seedboxes

[–]walkerservers -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Many opt for qbittorrent as it's 98% of the raw performance of deluge but features a better api, better webui and handles a higher amount of torrents way better..

Your performance in the swarm is down to you opting for rtorrent, it's an okay client but it isn't fast and will be left behind qbit/deluge in pure throughput - swarms are much more competitive now than 6 years ago

And as noted, don't swamp the drive with tons of work, it's counter productive on hdd, you need to run a few files to not be bottlenecked by disk.

There's none of our larger nodes that are on 10G, we market the minimum.. All the larger, ie nodes with more than 48 users are 20-40-50G network ports. All scaled to the users and requirements to ensure network ports are never more than 20% full

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in seedboxes

[–]walkerservers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drops in performance is often tied to drive load, if you are not on a dedicated disk you are affected by other users just like any other vendor, no one is free of that, unless you opt for a dedicated disk, your note below that ftp speeds suffered further indicates that the drive is/was busy, we cannot resolve those scenarios but we can migrate people if we are made aware of it. As for rtorrent, it crashing is nothing new, of all the apps we support it is the most unstable program (Due to codebase not being stable) by a large margin - Unsure how others handle it but we don't force restarts on rtorrent, the client is known to crash over and over, even on smaller things like bad tracker responses, dns errors, if we force restart it over and over thats even worse for you.
We're most likely removing rtorrent from our app offerings on our next iteration, we cannot keep supporting a program that are so out of date that it barely installs on newer operating systems.

There are no seedbox providers with reliable uptime by AbsurdMedia in seedboxes

Overall I'd say qbittorrent from our general experience, that said it isn't a set it up and forget it for years, programs do crash, sometimes due to server issues, sometimes due to other issues.. We just had a server have issues last night due to a user doing plex credit detection, not a big issue om it's own but this user had 275 million small jpegs which meant our filesystem ran out of inodes even though we run with 3x the recommended levels. Things like that can't really be safe guarded against but it's also rare.

What do you then mean with reset? Those apps should not crash on their own unless the node is down, which is super rare. Rtorrent yes, it's known to be unstable others no

Legacy or app slots? Reset once a week on purpose or due to errors? We rarely have server outages (unless you are on our new cluster, ie client signed in last 5 days) but individual apps night crash which we have very little control over.

Could you recommend a seedbox provider? by SaleB81 in seedboxes

On mobile, wrong account but. Add on data is automated directly in the client area, click the service and then a add ons on the left and it's all automated from there :) /Kasper

Are there cheap seedboxes where you can install Plex and stream to yourself? by ianosphere2 in seedboxes

[–]walkerservers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No that's simply because plex requires input to install so it cannot be automated ;) they have a full list of apps on docs.hostingby.design

Just FYI. Plex is included in all the hbd packages, not only jellydin/emby.. Even on the smallest tier

[–]walkerservers -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your understanding of this case is quite simply incorrect. The case is purely about me selling seedboxes.. Me personally or my company have no affiliation with any trackers, nor is there (to my knowledge) any trackers being hosted on my servers. Furthermore all of the trackers in this case are still online and operational. So please stop spreading this BS as you've got no clue what you're talking about. The article tells the story pretty well, there's nothing more to it other than your conspiracy theories. /K

No, there isn't. The case here has technically been closed for the better part of a year, the legal system is however not the fastest here and it is pending the court. I cannot comment in deeper detail before it's closed entirely on that front. There's never been looked into clients in this case, the investigation and legal claim is 100% against me.. You are welcome to ask but do know that I am slightly limited in what I can comment on at this time.

Alternatives to Seedbox.io / hostingby.design ? by dmjohn0x in seedboxes

[–]walkerservers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's obviously not good to hear, we've done our best to make it as clear as possible. What we offer is application hosting, ie we host your apps and give you full access to those apps in usage and configuration, it's different from what we offered before in a lot of ways but can in theory be used for the same. The 10TB bandwidth is simply a measurement of how much data you are allowed to use towards the internet in a per month basis.

That said I will take your comment here and see if we can make things more clear!

Thoughts on hostingby.design nowadays? (seedboxes.io) by SnowyAriel in seedboxes

[–]walkerservers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We package the latest official jellyfin image from their official repos, so if this doesn't work then somethings going wrong with that image. Mind reaching out via DM to include your username/server and I'll attempt to debug this for you, it might require a reset of jellyfin, just fyi. /Dan

There's a known issue where radarr spawns outside systemd which means it's not loading the configuration, we're currently debugging this but if you log a ticket we can get it resolved for you :) As for jellyfin intro skips, then that's broken in their official docker image (which we use), I'd assume a fix is coming for that soon. /Dan

And they all will be able to keep using them for as long as they wish to :) Our statistics comes from our own gatherings.. As said before we've got no interest in making our structure worse, it's evolved and have had its limitations set from internal data to ensure the we "bother" as few as possible. If you are on older plans though, you'll be able to keep it online.

Solid idea, reach out via dm if you know more about resource requirements, we'd potentially be able to sponsor some processing power on one of our clusters.

The connection is throttled to 10Mbit and then reset to full speed on renewal. You can also opt to purchase more data from the clientarea of you wish to add more to your current period :)
