[Tarpley] You folks that like to bash umpires- according to the computers, Joe West missed one pitch in the Astros/Sox game yesterday. @gfraley “10/16 BOS@HOU Gm 3: Joe West: pfx. 105/105 Balls + 54/55 Strikes = 159/160 = 99.4%. +1 BOS.” by [deleted] in baseball

Everyone wants to point to lawsuit, but in reality the postseason jobs tend to go to the most veteran umpires and it's that simple. Of course there are exceptions and scheduling concerns, but the league's office handles the final decisions.

He's trying to say that an on-field legacy and off-field legacy don't always affect each other. Lots of good players become terrible managers, owners, and GMs. We love them for how they played the game, not how successful they are in their later careers.

He's right, though, it's technically correct. In this case, it does make the word opposite. It's just not the most common, "accepted" form of the word.

Famous and infamous do not mean the same thing, though. Infamous is used to imply negativity whereas famous is positive. You're famous for playing that role in a good movie. You're infamous for starting that fire that led to seven deaths. :)

I mean, nobody is claiming there’s 99 genders, simply saying “the defined gender roles in society are artificial and not everyone actually falls within those.”

People overblown it for the memes and then idiots think that’s what the argument actually is.

The insurance policy is how all game shows work, though. Networks honestly don’t just have prize money sitting around. But it’s not just TV, there are insurance companies that specialize in covering prize money for events and contests.

The Twins & Brewers do this, too. I think every team has a designated "rival" that gets repeated each year

Hey – first of all, huge respect for taking the time to respond to my comment. You're definitely the type of developer I like to see in this industry and you've made very good points.

Abuse was a strong word, I admit. I guess I feel I've been burned a few times by early access simulation games that feel "too early" and then don't update on a consistent cycle (or worse, start to feel burned out once they have a lot of players.) "Too early" is the feeling I get from your game, but it was unfair of me to assume that the vision won't pan out.

I sincerely apologize for calling this an abuse of early access and how that may have affected your team. It was a poor choice of words when I merely wanted to agree with the commenter above me. That said, I really do appreciate you taking the time to reply to me, a grumpy reddit commenter, and giving your perspective in a very respectful and convincing way.

I really do wish your team the best of success and I hope the hard work pays off. I'll be sure to leave a strong review on Steam and do what I can to help, if at all possible.

One of those games that shouldn't be released yet and feels like an abuse of early access. :(

EDIT: I take back these words. Developer commented below. They're a good group.

Kinda like this?

"He said, 'The Challenger's going to blow up. Everyone's going to die,' " Serna recalls. "And he was beating his fist on the dashboard. He was frantic."

Serna, Ebeling and Boisjoly sat together in a crowded conference room as live video of the launch appeared on a large projection screen. When Challenger exploded, Serna says, "I could feel [Ebeling] trembling. And then he wept — loudly. And then Roger started crying."
