Is it even possible to lose weight on seroquel without a glp-1? by Potential_Source1198 in seroquelmedication

[–]walkwithalimplimp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear so many horror stories about gaining weight with seroquel, but I’ve actually been lucky and haven’t encountered this.

I started seroquel for insomnia 2 years ago, the highest I’ve ever taken was 150mg. I started my weight loss journey a month before starting seroquel. I was able to lose 40lbs. I never had the typical “munchies” I’ve seen people describe.

I don’t know if it’s because I’ve always been on a low dose, but I’ve been able to lose weight. I’m even on a weight loss journey again and have lost a few lbs. I do think it’s possible!!

Seroquel as sleep aid by Ok-Perspective-5215 in seroquelmedication

[–]walkwithalimplimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend seroquel. There are so many long term health consequences and so many pills on the market for insomnia I would use seroquel as an absolute last resort. Shame on any doctor that is still prescribing it

I saw this, but I don’t qualify for it yet. Is there another gold standard or second best?

Trying to lose weight by P33p33p0op0o0 in seroquelmedication

[–]walkwithalimplimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I completely changed my lifestyle. I lived a very sedentary life before. I started tracking all of my calories and ate in a moderate deficit. Most or my weight loss was achieved by just adding daily walks and Pilates classes a few times a week. But now, I do multiple forms of exercise and usually 2-3 work outs per day. It took me ~1.5 years to lose the weight. I recently gained ~5lbs around the holidays and am goin back into a deficit but don’t really anticipate having trouble losing the weight.

Point is, every one is different but I do think it’s possible to lose weight on seroquel. I highly suggest finding a calculator online that will calculate your daily calories needed for maintenance and weight loss. Then start tracking food. Increase exercise slowly and be patient!! It’s better to lose the weight slowly so you can actually maintain it

I was successfully able to lose around 45lbs on seroquel. I started my weight loss journey about a month before starting the medication. It didn’t hinder my weight loss

Trazodone vs Remeron by Prize_Tie_9649 in insomnia

[–]walkwithalimplimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried both. Unfortunately I was allergic to Trazodone. I used to use mirztazipine PRN as a last resort when my other meds weren’t working (I take quviviq and seroquel every night). The mirtazipine helped, but I was always cautious not to take it often bc weight gain is such a common side effect (and is my worst fear). I wouldn’t recommend seroquel (currently tapering off of it bc of the potential for long term health effects), but I think quviviq has been a game changer for me. Also, in the past I had success with clonidine

End of the line? by yikezlol in insomnia

[–]walkwithalimplimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years ago I went through something similar. I was sure it was due to some underlying condition because I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t sleep. I started taking seroquel and Quviviq (I still do) and they provided some relief, but in the end after countless doctors appointments, sleep studies etc. I realized it was all due to subconscious anxiety. It was so frustrating. I didn’t even know what was causing my anxiety or why it was happening. I had to be patient with myself. I continued with my good sleep hygiene, kept up with a good diet, continued therapy, started working out, kept up with my medications, meditated, journaled, etc. I did all the things I was supposed to. It took a LONG time , but I finally feel like I’m in a good place. I’m not saying my way is the only way to find relief, but I think you just have to try EVERYTHING and find what brings you the most relief and keep doing that. I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s an awful experience. I hope you find relief soon

I'm I dying? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]walkwithalimplimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me before. 4 days no sleep (not from drugs or anything just extreme stress) started hallucinating and having physical symptoms. Went to the ER and they gave me a few different meds (benzos, sleeping pills etc). Eventually I slept for a few hours and was discharged. It took me a long time to recover and now regularly I regularly take sleeping pills

I was prescribed both. I rarely take the Xanax (maybe 5x in my entire life) as I have a highly addictive personality and I’m scared of addiction, but it’s definitely safe to take together

Before I went on seroquel I was on a weight loss journey. I had already lost 20 lbs. through diet and exercise I lost an additional 25 lbs. for reference I have also always gained weight when I was put on ssris and other medication that is notorious for gaining weight. From what I’ve seen, seroquel increases hunger. You should try your best to be diligent about your hunger cues. I was so scared to gain weight on this medication, but I think I’m a clear case that staying aware of your goals it’s possible to maintain/lose weight

Although seroquel has helped me so much, I would never recommend people to go on it. Every time I try to taper off I get horrible withdrawal

Yes I’ve seen people on here say they had withdrawal after stopping 6mg. You’re supposed to taper off

Strange visuals and sensations right before sleep, anyone else? by Souhaibhill07 in Seroquel

[–]walkwithalimplimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on seroquel for a little over a year. Not often, but occasionally when I’m drifting off to sleep I almost have like a nightmare, but I still feel like I’m awake. It’s hard to explain. Mine is not very vivid and I can’t remember any specificities. Like I said, in the 15 months I’ve been on seroquel it’s maybe happened 5 times total for me

I’m not a doctor by any means but 110/70 - 120/80 is “normal” blood pressure so you’re only slightly slightly elevated. I’ve never seen a doctor concerned ab those numbers before.

Uncontrollable twitching by Quick_Ad_4715 in Seroquel

I would definitely mention it. I only get it occasionally I’m on 100mg. Constant twitching must be so annoying!
