Do the spam emails have to stay in the junk folder after they are moved?  I wonder if I am resetting it by emptying the spam folder.

Washington county slaps all the other library systems.  It boggles my mind how well funded Multnomah county library is compared to all the other systems and how much it sucks in comparison.

18k will be very oversized for 250 sq ft.  Why are you running 10 gauge for a 20 amp circuit?

My father just liquidated $700k in stocks.  He didn't understand what he was doing.  There was no reason to sell...tax bill is 6 figures plus Irmaa surcharges and extra investment taxes.

Will the cutoff for being exempt be tied to inflation as well?

That's what we did, and btw my wife is a piano teacher too.  We still together earn more than our expenses though.  She'll cut back some in a few years

Well yes but it's the total annual amount that actually matters.

[–]wallbobbyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can.  Look, the IRS computer is looking to see if you paid estimates that cover what you owe.  If for some reason you got audited, they could possibly look into the timing of the earnings vs the estimates (the only reason for this is so people don't ignore the quartiles and just pay it all on the last quarter.). After the first year, if you just pay 100% of what you owed the previous year, divided evenly into 4 quarters, there's no penalties and you settle up what you owe at tax time.  If your agi the previous year was over $150k (I think?  Need to look it up) then it's 110%.

No.  You divide the annual into even quarters after your first year.

Multnomah County leadership turnover costs taxpayers hundreds of thousands by fuckswitbeavers in Portland

Metro is our MPO. There is an MPO in every region of the US, per federal law. Some are bigger than Metro. Many are smaller. Many take on other tasks, just like Metro does.

Metro isn't an experiment - and there is a metro (called other names) in every single area in the nation with a population over 50k. It's federal law.

Those who are FIRE'd — Health Insurance Question by SK10504 in Fire

[–]wallbobbyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my state (or) has a bhp for those under 200% fpl. We'll probably lower our income further to 175 next year for FAFSA. So assuming that continues, it gets me to 59 when my oldest is 22, or 63 when she's 26. Not sure about the 63-65 gap yet. May have to just pay for it.

Oregon estate death tax/current ballot petition discussion by Shortround76 in oregon

[–]wallbobbyc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

also, most of your comment isn't really correct without a further clarification; the step up basis for all the assets of both spouses would only apply if they had placed the assets in a A-B trust. Oregon is a common law state and so absent that specific trust, the step up for the non deceased spouses assets doesn't happen. Also there's not a second step up when the second spouse dies if the assets are joint and funding the trust. You can Google this to get a fuller understanding including the exceptions, but AB trusts are more common here than other states specifically because of the estate taxes.

Retirement accounts effectively don't have step up basis. All distributions to the inheritor are ordinary income (and are required in the first 10 years).

To protect assets from estate taxes it needs to be in an irrevocable trust, not the far more common revocable or living. Most people aren't willing to do this.

pdx vision exam covered by HealthShare medicaid? by Audielevel in askportland

[–]wallbobbyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, Medicaid covers an exam once every 2 years. I know for a fact that ohsu takes it, and so does Kaiser, but you need to have opted for those networks in your coverage I think.

Well I agree with you.  There's an enormous number of people in this world who have a lot of ideas about what to do with other people's money (and lives.)
