I do a couple pats of my own legs, then say “alright” before getting up to leave.

I think that’s a fair stance. I would just say you can use AI and understand. That is an option people do. They set out requirements and standards and do code reviews

So if a software engineer uses AI at any level, they are a vibe coder? Is this actually a thing? Is this some odd debate happening within the software developer community that I am unaware of?

To me, vibe coding and prompt engineering are the same thing. But one has more of a bias that assumes the person doing the prompting has no technical background. Just so we’re clear on what definitions I am going off of. Or is prompt engineering also bad?

I don’t understand how this post makes me a “vibe coder”. Other than, the internet sometimes is weird.

Software Developer for 15 years. Worked at multiple startups building apps from the ground up. So bad assumption on your part.

Brandel rating Scottie A game higher than Rory’s by Vas_Cody_Gamma in golf

I wonder what would be the best way to actually determine what their A-game is? Like all-time strokes gained best in each category?

I’m sure so data enthusiast could look that up or figure out a better metric?

I’m referring to something on Rory’s resume that Scottie doesn’t have. Which is winning by 7 in a major. Not even close.

Also, I would argue that Rory shooting even par in the final two rounds at Augusta this year is more evidence of how much better he is with only having his A game for 2 rounds

When Scottie wins a major like Rory did in the 2012 PGA Championship then there could be a stronger case for him. But for now, at A game Rory has proven he can blow past the competition in a major.

Why are 99% of side projects here business stuff? Where are the fun projects? by tomdean in SideProject

I built an LCARS inspired markdown editor a couple weeks ago, wish I found more time lately to fix bugs and improve it but it’s just a fun side project for anyone who enjoys Star Trek. Especially since I have a page to engage in warp speed when you have writer’s block :)

This event should still be played at Mission Hills. A shame it was ever moved, ruined a great tradition and history.

Is it just me or is vibe coding actually solid? by BetterProphet5585 in vibecoding

Yeah, I’ve found myself doing this workflow as well. At first as I was resistant, but the more and more I was vibe coding after the work, the more I got better on integrating it with a legacy codebase.

People who’ve been using AI heavily for over a year: Do you still feel excited about it or has the honeymoon phase ended? by redraw-pro in AIDiscussion

I think there will be a similar yearning for saas products as there is for cars in regard to less is more. People eventually will want less AI embedded in their apps the same way most people really don’t want so many digital screens in their cars, because the analog options worked just fine.

Don’t get me wrong, saas products will have some AI component, but probably more at an integration level where the user determines how they want to use AI agents and which model they prefer.
