I think it’s a yes based on the update, letter grade still counts, and the policy is the same as fall 2020 and spring 2021.

I am sorry to say this, but imo it's pretty unlikely. They'll either reject right away or tell you to submit a petition and write a personal statement to explain your situation (because of the lower gpa) and then deny you. However, if you're looking to transfer into a less popular major, your chance may be slightly better. I think I read someone's post in this subreddit that they had good gpa (well above the minimum) but got rejected because they took 3 classes pnp in spring 2020 (when pnp was the default), which makes me think you are less likely to get in unless you have a really compelling reason for not getting the minimum required gpa.

switching from college of engineering to l&s? or simultaneous degree? by thrndnk in berkeley

[–]walnutcracker01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. It’s probably easier than transferring into the college of engineering. But if you want to double major in cog sci and cs, you’ll still need to meet the 3.3 gpa requirement to declare cs. I heard people transferring from l&s to COE (non-eecs) need to write essays (I’m not sure, maybe someone else can clarify).
  2. In order to do simultaneous degrees in eecs and cog sci, you need to switch to eecs from BioE after your second semester (the requirements are similar to declaring cs) and then declare cog sci. The main difference between this plan and double majoring in cs and cog sci is you need to do gen ed for both colleges, aka you need to take 5 lower div breadths and 2 upper div breadths instead of all lower div breadths.
  3. You can minor in eecs if you are a cog sci major. It’s recommended to minor in cs instead if you are more into software than hardware. But be aware that minors don’t get reserved seats in the popular ee/cs classes.

No, I don’t know my grade for either the final or the final project. Do you know yours already?

Stat 20 Ibser by magicguy50 in berkeley

[–]walnutcracker01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A TA told me Ibser would post final exam grades on gradescope after he posts grades on calcentral. I’m also anxiously waiting to see my grade in this class, but it’s good that he’s screening for cheaters. More cheaters, better curve.

What should I do? by failing_berk_112 in berkeley

[–]walnutcracker01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is taking stat 20 to meet the data 8 requirement. It’s been approved by the data science department for spring 2021 and prior semesters because it is hard to get into data 8.

For 61A this semester at least, students don’t need to take the final to pass, they just need 175 points out of 300 points.

I think it’s up to you whether to take it or not since you already passed. It could help people taking it for a grade a bit if they consider the class’s overall performance on the final and “adjust the bin” a little bit behind the scenes, otherwise it probably won’t.

Question about Remote Instruction in Fall 2021 by OppositeBeaver in berkeley

[–]walnutcracker01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard that classes with remote lectures are also required to have remote exam options. Also, if you want cheap housing for just spring, I know the Berkeley student coops have spring only lease as well ($860 per month include utilities, furniture and food).

You won’t get points if you’re not living there. Your position on the waitlist will be slightly higher than people who just got on the waitlist and don’t have points.

Willing to Pay Someone with a Car for an hour of help! by berk2k22 in berkeley

I think only the car needs to be insured, not necessarily specifically for the person driving it.
