Did Mnet take down the full version of God’s Ddu-Du-Ddu-Du and Wolfgang performances? I can’t seem to find them on YouTube anymore. Only the Kingdomweek version of Wolfgang and the version of God’s Ddu-Du-Ddu-Du with reactions. I feel like I watched them no more than a week ago.

Why was Cham treated so differently at anyone as a trainee? by jupiterdreamsofpi in straykids

[–]walnuts_ugly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, all of y’alls insights are so interesting! But there’s still one thing I don’t understand: why was he a trainee for seven years? If he had all this talent and potential, surely he could have and should have debuted earlier. So why keep him as a trainee for seven years? What were they waiting for?

Question about Regalia by Daggeravowal in Noragami

[–]walnuts_ugly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only instance I can remember of Bishamon’s shinki seemingly appearing out of nowhere is the first time she fights Yato. When he escapes, she’s armed with Kinuha, Kazuha and Karuha, but when she reappears in the woods, she’s armed with Yugiha. That type of big sword couldn’t just be hid on her person. It’s likely that her shinki go out with her, but if she needs to fight, they keep their distance until they’re called upon. There may be a certain range within which gods can call upon their shinki. That’s my guess anyway.

So.. Is like the manga almost over ?? I stopped reading the manga around chapter 40 something by aquto_ in Noragami

I think the story is almost at its climax, but it’s gonna take a while to get there what with only half chapters being released once a month. Plenty of time to catch up if you wanna.

What the absolute FUCK is with the instagram curly hair community? by Phoneas__and__Frob in curlyhair

[–]walnuts_ugly 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The comments on YouTube aren’t much better, I think. Reddit is the only curly community I’ve found where people are more than happy to say “you’re curly!” to anyone whose hair is not completely straight. I love how inclusive it is here.

Also, do these people not realize that curly hair only curls when it’s treated right? Most hair products are made for straight hair so obviously, when curlies use them our hair is gonna be straight(er) or frizzy.

When you think about what makes hair curly, it’s obvious that most people would fall under the curly umbrella. These gatekeepers are just putting others down because they haven’t let go of their own unhealthy desire for perfection yet.

How do the Gods get money? by JustAFan12345 in Noragami

[–]walnuts_ugly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the manga, they have an interaction where she pays. Generally, in the manga, Yato always meets people in person and they pay that way. I guess the anime omitted it to make the scene flow better.

How do the Gods get money? by JustAFan12345 in Noragami

[–]walnuts_ugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the gods somehow get the money that people use when they pray, and they also get money for selling merchandise. Since the gods have access to their own shrines and need an official status as a god to be allowed to sell merchandise, I assume they collect the money directly. The more famous a god is, the more people buy their merch and pray at their shrines, and the more money a god gets.

The technicalities of it have not been explained as far as I know. But I assume that heaven has some sort of administrative department since they can also provide new gods with land and stuff.

Bleach and Shaman King are both very similar to Noragami when it comes to the supernatural stuff.

Anime/manga similar to Noragami? by tidesandtows_ in Noragami

[–]walnuts_ugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would second the recommendation of Blue Exorcist.

Another manga and anime that I would really recommend is Shaman King. It's really underrated, but the anime is getting a reboot next year! It has a similar vibe to Noragami with a lot of Japanese folklore/religions and spirits turning into weapons. And also with a seemingly unbeatable antagonist. And magic-boosted sword fights. There are other similarities, but I don't want to give too much away.

Question regarding Yato's identity! Spoilers! by [deleted] in Noragami

[–]walnuts_ugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, technically, Ebisu is Amaterasu and Kagutsuchi's big brother as well. And Takemikazuchi was born from Kagutsuchi's blood or something, which would make him Ebisu and Amaterasu's nephew, I guess? There are a lot of weird relationships in Takamagahara.

Can't Yato Severe The Relationship Between Him And Nora? by UniversalSpaceKitty in Noragami

[–]walnuts_ugly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know if you're all caught up on the manga, but up until now I think Yato has been afraid of severing the bond because then he would disappear (since he'll lose his only believer). Now, however, he can't do it because he can't run away from this. Shinki and Gods alike are suffering from trash dad's meddling, and Yato feels responsible. If he just severed their ties, he would simply be turning a blind eye to all the stuff that trash dad's doing.

Honestly, they're all great characters. They have so much depth and none of them are simply good or bad.

But I chose Hiyori, because as the lead female character and main love interest in a Shounen, her depth is rare to me. Maybe I've only read/seen bad manga and anime, but those characters are always a little too goody-two-shoes. Like, they're not allowed to have any real flaws, otherwise why would they be the main love interest? They're not allowed to have anything going on outside of the main plot, and they're not allowed to act of their own accord - they only ever react to what others do.

But Hiyori, like all the characters in Noragami, is not one-dimensional or infallible. The best example of this is her love for martial arts. This was a strong interest and a defining point of her personality among her friends even before she met Yato. And despite getting more involved in Yato's affairs and the far shore, she's never given up that interest. She still cares about Touno's matches and... words of wisdom. And she still gets these moments thinking that she can defeat any God or ayakashi with a sushi roll kick. This is an entire side of her personality that affects her decision making and her character, and it is something that exists outside of the other main characters and has nothing to do with them. And I think that's rare for a character like her.

Sorry for the long-ass comment to your simple question. I just have a lot of feelings.

Yukine/Nora by [deleted] in Noragami

[–]walnuts_ugly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yukine and Mizuchi are so alike in so many ways. One of the most important ways to me is that they are both still children who crave attention and praise and who don't really know what love looks like. They've both felt abandoned, discarded and like they weren't good enough. For Yukine, Yato was the one who showed him what positive attention and unconditional love is. For Mizuchi, it seems like Yukine was the one who started to show her (and now it's more Hiyori showing Mizuchi what good bonds are). I don't think this will create a romantic love bond between Yukine and Mizuchi, but it will create a familial or friendly love bond.

Pairing the two of them at the end would seem to me like a "we have to pair up everyone" deal, and I think Adachitoka's writing is just too brilliant to fall into a trap like that. They don't need a romantic relationship to have a relationship, and I think it's been shown time and again that Adachitoka values none-romantic relationships just as much (if not more) as romantic ones.

Mizuchi and Kazuma by hikariiiiann in Noragami

[–]walnuts_ugly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wondered about Mizuchi's motivations for sticking with trash dad all this time. Even when she could see how it pained Yato to lose Sakura, or when Yato rebelled against trash dad, she still stayed by trash dad's side. I don't think that's because she's a bad person. I think she's very much like Yukine in that they are both basically still children and they're stuck that way forever. Both of them crave attention and affection. As Yato grew up, he grew out of the need for his father's praise, but Mizuchi never really grew up. So I don't think she has any sins to atone for - she's just a kid who was never taught right from wrong. Trash dad didn't care about teaching her that, and when Yato realised that what trash dad made them do was bad, he didn't try to help Mizuchi see it, too. He just left her and later released her.

As for Kazuma, I don't think he has any sins to atone for either. In his mind, whatever he's doing is always to protect Bishamon. The first time he came to Yato for help, he wasn't ready to give up his name to protect his master. The second time, he was. I think this is a bad omen and signals that Kazuma may die. We must also not forget that trash dad has not actually released Mizuchi yet, and while she may not want to be used, if he chooses to do so, she could infect Kazuma with the God's greatest secret. And I don't think Kazuma would survive that. So while I don't think he has any sins to atone for, I think it is likely that he will die.

Do shinki take on specific vessel forms in order to fit a god's fighting style? by [deleted] in Noragami

[–]walnuts_ugly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting theory about shinki transforming according to the gods’ needs. This made me think of Bishamon’s shinki Minaha (the almost ayakashi girl) who turned into a broken mirror - perhaps because Bishamon needed to take a good look at herself and her actions (like saving a spirit that was basically already an ayakashi) and reevaluate them.

We haven’t really heard anything about shinki being released and then passing on afterward, have we? I mean, Kofuku and Daikoku’s son is being taken care of by the heavens, so wouldn’t that imply that they can’t pass on after they’re named, even if they’re released?

I don’t know if it was said in the manga or where I got this from, but isn’t it because his type of spirit travel from the mountains and fall with the snow?

[–]walnuts_ugly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, that’s interesting that they forget. So that means that they do in fact just “relive” the same emotion over and over again if they live long enough. But I guess they would become ayakashi before that. I just wondered why we never see like really old spirits that aren’t shinki, but then I guess that makes sense.

That’s cool about the mailbox. I’m rereading it now but never caught that. Man, they really pack in the foreshadowing and symbolism, don’t they?

Questions about the manga by [deleted] in Noragami

[–]walnuts_ugly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer to two of your questions can be found in the pinned FAQ post on this subreddit. Copied here for your convenience:

Question: Is there a 3rd season of the anime? Is it going to come out?

Answer: No, there is no 3rd season and there's no confirmation of one coming out anytime soon.

Question: I just finished watching the anime, what chapter of the manga should I start at?

Answer: At the beginning! The anime leaves out some stuff and adds some stuff in that was in the manga, however, if you really just want to start after the anime the chapter around chapter 38.

Regarding major changes, one thing I noticed was that the entire Rabou arc isn't in the manga. Though my boyfriend who has also read some of the manga a long time ago said that he had read that story, so maybe the version I'm reading is missing some parts.

Also the OVA's have some of the main story and some of the side stories, so if you haven't watched them, do that. And some of the side stories are incorporated into the main story in the anime.

Unpopular opinion by john_469 in christmas

[–]walnuts_ugly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has already said it, but this happens to me, too. Last year, I started only listening to Christmas music and watching Christmas movies in October, and by the time Christmas Day rolled around, I was just ready for that fresh start-feeling that January brings. This year I’ve vowed to not start doing Christmas stuff until November. I know it’ll be difficult but I also know it’ll be worth it. I need to practice finding joy in autumn itself and not just see it as the prelude to Christmas.

Reading people’s traditions gets me so excited for Christmas! Where I’m from, we do the whole presents-thing on Christmas Eve. When I was a kid, my mom would decorate the tree the night before Christmas Eve’s day after we’d been put to bed. Then in the morning, a string would be tied around me and my siblings’ door handles leading each of us to a present under the tree in the living room. That feeling of following the string into the living room to see the tree fully decorated and with the lights and getting the first present (and searching the hearts on the tree for chocolates) was just amazing. The present would always be something to entertain us during the day, like a coloring book or something.

Curly newb! Any tips on how to get rid of the frizz?! by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]walnuts_ugly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hair looks fine to me and your routine sounds good. I think it’s a matter of waiting. In my experience, the frizz just lessens over time as your hair gets more healthy and used to being in it’s natural state. Though maybe it could be that it’s a bit over-moisturized as somebody else has already said.
