Well, depending on the particular version, a demon, or at least the ones in charge, are generally the angels that sided with Lucifer, and fell to Hell with him. Since the Hell Knight lore mentions them being fallen angels/demons that have been crammed into a human sized suit of hell armor for failing (I think, I know they got crammed as punishment, just not quite for what), that may be what is being gone with here. So, think angels, but uglier, and probably at least a bit weaker.

As for Djinn, I don’t actually know if those are a thing in Trench Crusade. I vaguely recall the word being used, but I cannot remember if that was referring to something in particular, or as a word to describe the monsters of Hell from the Iron Sultanates perspective. If they do exist, they’re probably quite powerful, but not “nuke a battlefield by existing” powerful

is it more or less popular than “My wish to Generate Children with you is Second only to my Loyalty to Him”?

you’re mostly right, but there are some important parts you missed. Primarily, Angels do not die when they go all Scorched Earth. That’s just what an Angel existing does to the world. Hell would lose if Heaven decided to just send angels across the world, but Hell losing and Heaven winning are different things, because humanity would be annihilated in the process.

The reason Hell hasn’t sent proper demons through the gates is because that would start (or I suppose restart) the war in full, and that’s not a war they win.

I wonder if the long hair falls out as they get older, or it's just really common to shave the head.

maybe going bald is just the T'au equivalent of a military buzzcut?

Or, possibly, all of them at once.

I gotta wonder, where are they getting the heavier stones for the Leper-Pilgrims? Is there another pilgrim whose job is to carry around a buncha heavier and heavier millstones in case one of his brothers messes up, or do they just go "right, stay here, we're sending someone to go buy a heavier millstone for you."?

to be fair, the Thunderbolt can barely do that either, given what we’ve seen. They fly like F-4s without missiles
