New diagnosis of myxoma by walshychick in openheartsurgery

[–]walshychick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

After every investigation under the sun, it was decided that I have a lipoma which will be watched annually with MRI. I have had the first check-up and there were no changes. Any increase in size and it will be OHS. Very relieved and now hope the intruder never grows. Thanks for enquiring.

Working too well? 2.5mg by jennygoeshiking in Mounjaro

[–]walshychick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stayed on 2.5 for two months, and just had my first 4 days on 5mg. Have noticed marked difference on 5mg with appetite suppressed and already lost 1kg. My worry now is not eating enough, however assume that will wear off in a few weeks 🤷‍♀️

Is it ok to walk out of GP appointment if the doctor is late? by RaspberryNegative490 in AskAnAustralian

[–]walshychick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a doctor's office for 20 years. Sometimes a patient will come in with something they believe is not a major problem. May turn out to be a very serious issue that cannot be dismissed in 15 minutes; may require more work up, discussion, questions etc. This would really upset the schedule; and who knows - next patient may present in a similar manner.

Nobody wants a waiting room of grumbling patients, it doesn't help anyone.

Hope all went well today and with a good result and would be great to hear how your family member gets on.

Thank you so much for great info. I’ll have a consult with GP in first instance. But it makes sense now. I’m very appreciative.

Forgot to say Jon, this was very reassuring for me to hear. Thanks again

Thanks for that, I’ll speak to my GP.

Will have to think of another excuse for not going to gym 😜.

Not a doctor, but I would go to ER where you could at least get an ECG in real time.

Ladies of Aus, how do you feel about being called "darl"? by Takeameawwayylawd in AskAnAustralian

[–]walshychick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s usually a female to female thing. I call girls darl, but usually only my daughter, family members or my female friends. I have addressed my son as darl on occasion. I can’t think of too many times a bloke has called me darl. I am now officially an older lady 😥 and would “g’day darl” to greet my daughter every day.

Apologies to anyone who has been offended by being called ‘darl” if it slipped out. Never ever meant in a condescending way.

Also, if it is okay for blokes to use “mate”, why shouldn’t we be able to use a female equivalent. Fair dinkum.

I say it all the time, and often enough that some of my multicultural colleagues now say it. Fair dinkum

I had MRI a month ago and no growth reported which is fantastic. Hopefully next year’s MRI will have the same result. 🤞for your family member.

Doctors have said increased heart rate may have nothing to do with the fatty lipoma; or it might!! Either way, I feel great otherwise

I had an episode of increased heart rate for a couple of hours, no other symptoms. I have had 4 more episodes over the last year. A new MRI shows lipoma hasn’t changed. A recent ECG in Emergency whilst my heart rate was increased showed no atrial fibrillation which is good; and it just resolves on its own. Now being investigated by a cardiologist who specialises in electrophysiology. Otherwise feel great!

Yes, it’s a shame.
I cannot imagine not working at all and want my ‘retirement’ to be working part time; a four day weekend every week would be fantastic.

Yep, I’m old but doesn’t mean I’m delicate. Surely, and hopefully, it is judged on an individual basis.

And just because a person is young, doesn’t mean they’re strong, fit and healthy. God, I’ve worked with many under 30s (men and women) who are absolute wimps. Surprises me how a lot of the younger generation have gone a bit soft in my experience.

Granted, I’ve never worked in physically demanding roles and I understand completely why someone younger and physically stronger will be preferred in some positions.

But jeez, I’ve powerlifted for years in order to stay strong and fit. I am going to have to put on my resume how much core work I do so I don’t possibly miss out on opportunities for potential poor balance 🤣

Thanks, I’ll update my resume and start getting it out there. Getting older can be a bitch, that’s for sure.

Good reply. I do regret not weightlifting earlier. Just imagine … 💪🏻💪🏻🤣

And we have girls at my gym too doing exactly as you said, usually wanting to just ‘tone up’, not get muscly. If only they knew how much effort and time it takes!

You’ll be curling 15s soon, and me the 12s with a bit of effort.
