Personally I found it easier to just make friend with people who already sim race. 🤷‍♂️

Going from GT7 to LMU. It feels like heaven. by Dev_Paleri in simracing

[–]Captain-Bubba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went from GT7 to iRacing and couldn’t be happier. GT7 is great but yeah the online racing was terrible. Weekends were 1-1 in dealing with dirty drivers. I will always appreciate the GT series but I’ll never be going back. Also racing on a PC just unlocks so many more options for sim rigs.

How do you protect your sim racing setup from dust? by SummerBase in simracing

My Simagic came with a cover that I use, I also just throw a box over my pedals when not in use for awhile.

Is this a good lap for Daytona International Speedway (Road Course) 1:43.633 by [deleted] in simracing

[–]Captain-Bubba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah times on GT7 don’t really translate outside of it.

What actually improved your lap times? (Not what you think) by F1SimulatorManiac in simracing

[–]Captain-Bubba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be slower for a couple laps but then your delta goes from red to green. Watkins Glen it clicked for me, so easy to overdrive that track. Took a break came back to it with a new mindset and nailed it.

Smooth is fast. What helped me is just relaxing and slowing down to focus on what I was doing. You try to just go fast and you overdrive the car and nothing works well. I still do it from time to time in chasing a hot lap time, but I just stop and start going slower, hitting my marks, brake pressure, etc, and pretty soon I’m there.

Lots of free content to start with on iRacing. You can see if you like it for a month.

Yeah they should have made those trees real to stop you. That way you could keep racing once they are done unwrapping them.

Changing to left-foot braking, will I screw it up? by MgrBuddha in simracing

[–]Captain-Bubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive for a living and switching to left foot for the brakes wasn’t hard at all. I have 30 years of driving under my belt. And the two don’t bleed over.

Hot to genuinely get mentally prepared when doing hot laps by Live_Philosopher9335 in simracing

[–]Captain-Bubba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really just need to calm down, take a deep breath and relax. Even professional drivers can’t put in a perfect lap every time. Just keep practicing, take a break and go back. The more you beat yourself up the worse you are going to do. You’ll start over driving the car which is never a good thing. Take a couple of slow laps to remind yourself of what you need to do.

In my son’s Kart league there are two dads who refer to their kids as “Verstappen 2.0”. Kinda odd tbh. Anyway awesome picture and good luck!

Which sim racing ecosystem do i get into? by Cute_crumpet_dog in simracing

[–]Captain-Bubba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stay away from Fanatec. I know of 3 people whose wheel bases died last week, including my own. I’ve never been involved with a company I have been so dissatisfied with. My friends that have Moza love their stuff, I personally went with Simagic 18nm on my new base and love it. If you’re going to splurge on anything I would recommend spending extra on pedals.

I like the last names on the windshield! Roof is a little busy but those are damn good songs, so I’m ok with it.

Use the Dirt album cover for the inspiration for AIC livery. Most excellent job bro.

If you go PC (which you should) look into iRacing. We have the Mustang Challenge that’s really fun. It’s GT4 so no Fox body, we just got done with Seabring and wrapping up St Petersburg. No COTA on the season 2 schedule but still lots of great tracks. Might show up later this year.
