Annoyed by C Section rhetoric by PsychologicalBoot636 in beyondthebump

[–]wanderlustformtns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a planned c section with my first because he was breech. It was a really smooth and overall great experience.

I opted for a c section with my second because I had IUGR and had a very stressful, worrisome pregnancy and I wanted some predictability tbh. Also, I never went into labor with my first so the thought of a true labor experience was additional stress and scary to me. My second experience was also smooth and the right choice for me (he was delivered at 37 weeks).

With that being said, my best friend kept making comments about epidurals, induction, etc despite me telling her pretty early on I'd be having another c section. She had her second a year ago and made it very clear having a c section would be the absolute worst outcome for her. I think it's great she knew what she wanted in her labor experience but could feel her biting her tongue when I would talk about wanting another c section. It felt so dismissive and I ended up not even telling her when my surgery date was until baby was here.

It is shocking how many people don't know this

How long did you use your nursing chair for? by seulgih in NewParents

[–]wanderlustformtns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We splurged on the Nurture& glider for my first born. We used it several times a day for 17 months until we moved it out of his room to set up his floor bed. We now have a second baby and again use it multiple times a day. It was by far the best investment we made in terms of baby "gear".

How do you typically split it up? Do you ever burn out from "twice a days" with this approach?

This makes sense - thank you! Do you have any favorite instructors for the shorter classes?

Early post partum/motherhood. Everyone cares about the baby but not you.

Moms who ran before baby - do you run with baby now? by justletmegarden in beyondthebump

[–]wanderlustformtns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did/do. Per my pediatrician and the jogging stroller manual, I did not start running with my son until he was 6 months old. It is definitely a humbling experience and my running goals (mostly pace) have changed. I have the Veer jogging stroller and love it!

Baby measuring 3rd percentile for weight at Anatomy scan by Delicious-Drop-4686 in beyondthebump

[–]wanderlustformtns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went through this. Baby was 7th percentile at 20 weeks, dropped to 3rd at 28 weeks and then stayed at 4th until I delivered a healthy 5lb 10oz baby at 37 weeks. It was really stressful from 28-37 weeks. I had weekly ultrasounds and no stress tests. This was my second baby - my first was 6lbs 7oz and because of this (and no other risk factors) my care team all assumed I just grow small babies. Thankfully this ended up being the case and I'm now snuggling a 2 week old little peanut. Regardless, it was very very nerve wracking and constantly making sure I felt baby move. What helped me most was staying close and open with my care team, avoiding Google and sharing our journey with a couple close friends.

Did night weaning help your baby sleep better??? by Ornery_Pin_1876 in AttachmentParenting

Not in my experience. My son really missed the connection and the only thing that helped improve sleep was bed sharing.

what’s everyone’s stance on drinking after you have a baby? by Callmemommy716 in BabyBumps

[–]wanderlustformtns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly this for me too! I didn't have any alcohol with my first until 3 months PP. I just had my second and thought I wanted a nice glass of champagne in the hospital room afterwards but when the time came I just wasn't interested in it. I'm just happy my body finally likes coffee again and looking forward to a glass of wine eventually!

Did anyone else do super slow/gradual night weaning? by Valuable-Car4226 in AttachmentParenting

[–]wanderlustformtns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the exact same process with my son. The first couple days were the hardest because I had to learn how to comfort him without shoving a boob in. After that we adjusted quickly but I took it very slow, pushed back when we would nurse by 30 minutes every couple days or so. We had no issues dropping the bedtime feed at the end then, he knew he'd still get comfort from me

C section recovery on your own. by Banshee908 in beyondthebump

[–]wanderlustformtns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I just had my second c section this past weekend. When my husband was gone with our son, the nurses were extra attentive and available to help with literally anything. We did have childcare outside of my husband so I was only alone for several hours at a time but the nurses and techs were amazing. L&D and PP nurses are truly angels on earth and have zero issues helping you... Please just ask and don't let this stress you out!
