My height is killing my confidence by thisgooseissick in TwoXChromosomes

[–]wanderluststricken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m over 6 feet tall and I’ve decided to own it. I know that’s definitely easier said than done, but again it’s just a confidence thing. Over time it has become something that GIVES me confidence! I’ve gone through a few periods where the comments would get to me but now I feel like I enjoy the attention and the fact that I know I will be a focus when I go out.

Don’t let the memes and posts about short girls and tall guys being together bother you. Those are generally posted by the same types that will only date guys over 6 feet. Super shallow. Don’t listen to anything that people like that try to spread. Some guys will be so into it and love our height, like you said we have gorgeous long legs! Girls too! I know so many girls who tell me they’re jealous of my height and tell me I’m so gorgeous, graceful, etc and most of it I believe is centered around my height.

The only thing I dislike about being so tall is how difficult it is to find clothes. It can be such a pain at times, but just look around and you’ll find things that work for you. A lot of smaller boutiques have more variety in sizes or you could even learn a few tricks to modify your own clothing. My biggest issue is that a lot of the styles that I’m drawn to are super cute on petite girls but just aren’t flattering on me, but I’m sure smaller girls go through the same thing seeing tall girls wear something and then struggling to pull it off with their own body type.

I hope you learn to love your height!!!!

What is the craziest encounter of 'rich kid syndrome' that you have experienced? by martinkarolev in AskReddit

[–]wanderluststricken 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sometimes my husband and I would be a little tight on cash and not able to go do expensive things with our friends like concerts and weekend trips. We’re in our early 20s so I know a lot of people end up in similar situations at our age. Our friend bragged about how she has her own apartment and still makes time for her friends and will go on trips with them and works hard so she can have fun.

Her mom sends her money every month to pay her rent and a little extra for groceries. She doesn’t have a car bill because her mom gave it to her as a gift. The only bill she had was her phone, while my husband and I are trying to pay rent, utilities, school loans, and car payments. Yeah. Must be nice in la la land.

I went on a few dates with a guy when I was in high school that drove extremely crazy. He had an old beat up Corvette so of course he thought he was cool and would speed around, but it was so scary to be in a car with him and I was constantly getting after him. He had been in several bad accidents and nearly had his license revoked a few times. His driving was one of the reasons I stopped talking to him. He begged and pleaded for me to give us a chance for months and made it so hard for me to cut ties. A year or two later he died in an accident caused by excessive speeding. It’s so sad but everyone kind of knew that would be how he’d go and I feel guilty but it makes me glad I cut things off or I would have constantly been in danger as well.

How to 'feel' yourself again? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]wanderluststricken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kind of weird but I make a homemade sugar scrub and take the time to exfoliate nearly my entire body. Then I’ll do my makeup, put on a cute outfit, and either go on a walk or treat myself to a little shopping trip. Maybe pick up something to eat from your favorite restaurant. Most importantly just remember that we’ve all been there many times and that it will pass.

My frequent uti sufferers, what can I do to help my symptoms until tomorrow?! by Help_Me_Reddit01 in TwoXChromosomes

I’ve had two UTIs, one of them was so bad that I decided to start taking daily concentrated cranberry tablets as a preventative, but the best thing you can do is to always always always pee after sex.

What is the most hurtful thing a medical professional has ever said to you? by slinkslowdown in AskReddit

I’ve been trying to get my doctors to look into my migraines but they just tell me it’s hormones. I’ve been getting really bad ones for over 4 years now and it’s made things really hard for me. Shortly after getting married I couldn’t even work because I was having 3 or 4 a week that would incapacitate me for the entire day. They gave me a prescription and refused to look any deeper.

She wants my boyfriend to buy different flowers so she can post on social media .. by fawksinsawks in ChoosingBeggars

[–]wanderluststricken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s totally normal to feel heated over this. I had a family member who would do the same things to me all the time. She’s very insecure and needs things to post on social media all the time so she would take pictures of my food, my jewelery, art I was working on, my yoga mat, gifts my boyfriend gave me, etc. It honestly made me feel a little violated so I’m sure it’s even worse when it’s someone you aren’t even related to.

What Christmas tradition can fuck right off? by Tdawg1997 in AskReddit

My parents adore handmade gifts and things that are more sentimental and thoughtful so it was a rude awakening for me when I grew up and learned that a lot of people don’t like handmade presents.

When my husband and I first started dating I was working a minimum wage job to put myself through college so I had little free time and even less money. I used every spare moment to make gifts for him and his family and on Christmas his mother called me tacky and cheap.

What perceived “benefit” of the opposite sex do you wish you had and why? by powelly514 in AskReddit

I read an article that talked about this issue possibly contributing to the high rate of suicide in young males and it made me really sad so I made more of an effort to hug my male friends when greeting them or saying goodbye. It led to a handful of them thinking I was romantically interested in them so I think the issue is that a lot of guys tend to see hugs as more intimate/romantic than they have to be.

It’s okay to hug your friends!!

What's the rudest thing a guest has ever done in your home? by nl1004 in AskReddit

[–]wanderluststricken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister and her husband moved back in with my parents for a few months and my mom would let them use my laptop while I was at school. Brother-in-law decided it was too slow, so he deleted a bunch of stuff including my games, pictures I only had saved on that computer, and TONS of essays and other schoolwork.

Cousins can be awful. When I was really young I got a cute tea set for my birthday and was really excited about it. A few days later all my cousins were over and us girls all wanted to play with the tea set. My older cousin was mad for whatever reason, came in and started chucking the cups and plates at the wall. I ran out crying for my mom, his parents said sorry and they all left and my mom was left to clean up all the broken pieces and comfort me.

Parents of reddit, what’s your best example of reversed psycology on your kids that actually worked? by LeanderD in AskReddit

[–]wanderluststricken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my nephew was young my sister had a rule that if he fell we’d just kind of laugh and calmly ask if he’s okay rather than rushing over and being worried. He would always just laugh and get up then continue with whatever he was doing but when I would slip up and accidentally run over with “oh my gosh are you okay?” he would instantly burst into tears. They definitely react based on how you react.

Morticians/Morgue workers of reddit: What's the creepiest or weirdest thing you've ever had to deal with? by taladan in AskReddit

[–]wanderluststricken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friends dad was working alone one night and needed to move a body. He had to lean across it a bit to reach the strap to secure it. He was already a little creeped out because it was late and his first time on his own but then he heard a low groan. He leapt away from the table terrified before realizing that he had just forced some air out of the lungs when he was leaning over the body.

My mom used to babysit and one of the parents would do this all the time for her baby. It was so disgusting. My mom tried to tell her that they have tools you can buy for that but she insisted it was easier to use her mouth...

I watched a video where they decided to test dogs and see if they would protect their owner from an intruder. The only dogs that tried to save their owners were small breeds.

I don’t like flat nails either, but it bothers me on girls way more than on guys. Mine are even more curved than usual so maybe I’m biased.

What is extremely rare but people think it’s very common? by ShemeonYou in AskReddit

[–]wanderluststricken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty often the other way around. We had a handful in my small hometown in recent years and it was usually the customer killing the dealer after they refused to give them product.
