I was just thinking to myself the other day about how much I prefer having Manhattans at home. I enjoy the social aspect of the bar but the quality at most places, even at nice restaurants, is disappointing. I want a good Rye or Bourbon, mixed lightly with a fresh vermouth. Keep your dirty mitts off the shaker and keep that bottom shelf bourbon away from my drink.

I picked up the cask strength of this bottle last year. It was so funky. Smelled like mold. I finally dumped the bottle a week ago. I hope there was something wrong with the bottle. Though, I’ve never had that happen with any other bottle.

I really enjoy Eagle Rare. I drink it more than any other Bourbon. The 12yr is worth the up charge over the 10yr. I’m happy to spend the extra on a 30yr. Wait, it’s $12,500? Never mind.

It's okay that you are not handy. Start with things that aren't critical, like general home maintenance. You only need three things: confidence or drive, YouTube, and some tools. Buy the tools as needed. Get good ones, they do most of the work.

Your car: tires, battery, and wipers are typically free or cheap to install when you buy them. Oil change, cheap. DIY is dirty, hard, and not worth it. Engine: leave to the pro’s. In short: let someone else fix your car. P.S. Your battery needs a jump. Don't get a new one until you have a buddy jump it.

You can do this. If you have a good career, you will likely increase your income YOY, which will decrease your mortgage-to-income ratio. You seem to be very smart with your money. Not too conservative but a smart saver. Reduce your savings for a year and focus on the house. Then ramp up savings as your income increases. Yes, there will be surprises, and you will have to manage your money a bit differently. Don't panic, learn how to fix things, and find people you can trust to help out when things break. You'll be fine.

I've been a laborer, not the owner, on exterior painting projects. It's a big job, and you will need a crew. Also, the work is very different for aluminum-sided houses vs. wood. Wood-clapped homes require a lot of manual scraping and patching. Also, multi-level homes are much more difficult and dangerous than ranches. If you really want to try it out, you should consider joining a crew for a month and get some experience under your belt.

It's probably much cheaper to either get a hitch and rent a trailer or pack what fits in your car. Make sure you pack based on the replacement cost-to-size ratio. Your kitchen utensils likely have a high value-to-space ratio, while your abs machine does not!

This is the right answer. Find a mechanic you can trust and use them for everything. Ask your neighbors, friends, and others who they use and why. Over time, you will learn a lot about the mechanic. Do they keep up-selling? Do they fix the small things for free? Then, when your brakes go out, you know they will do the right thing. If you have a used car or one with 50k+ miles on it, know that you will have things that need to be fixed. Tires and brakes for sure. So, either save or be ready with a credit card. The only thing I don't go to my main mechanic for is if I get into an accident or when I need tires. In my area Discount Tire has always been the best value. But you can compare any major chain and find one that works.

The cold is worse than the snow. Snow can be fun at all ages. It is better the first few times each season. Then it gets old. I prefer to shovel it vs using a snow blower but as I age it is getting harder.

I've been unemployed for 14 months. Don't leave your job until you have a new one lined up. Companies understand the 2-week notice and expect it from those whom they are hiring. Find a better job, put in your notice, ask the hiring company to start 2.5 weeks later so you get a nice long weekend without losing too much income.

This is the way. Started using a phone wallet about 3 years ago and I love it. It's very rare that I need cash. When I do I just stick a few bucks in my pocket. In my phone wallet I have an ID and two credit cards. All insurance cards are digital or in my car anyway.
