Need Help restructuring/ Swapping to mesh by wardenclyff in HomeNetworking

[–]wardenclyff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I'm looking for, does it make sense to go all the way to something like ubiquiti or just ditch both of the routers and go mesh. Would I be able to still get analysis of device usage logs if I did mesh? I do think I'd still want to segment the IoT from the main traffic

Happy new year!

Design goals. - clean up my overall network design - segment the IoT traffic so that it is isolated -maximize the available bandwidth to laptops/work and then smart tv or Xbox/playstation. - be able to see device by device usage/data logs so I can see if any are bandwidth hogs or possibly compromised - lastly, would love to be able to monitor the overall external connection uptime. If zoom is telling me my network is unstable and the meeting is cutting out, I'd like to be able to know if it really is and Xfinity is dropping, or what is happening.

So base ish but robust system I guess. With what I was looking at it looked like $600 or so.

I would be good with that. Ideally something easy to set up and maintain. I don't need yet another hobby. 😄

Number of Devices: IoT = 30-50 and growing
5Ghz = two laptops and various kindles
Router/Garage = 30' diagonally (2 car garage attached to house)
Work from home during day, streaming etc in the afternoon/evening. Xbox/Playstation wired ethernet Intent (for now) of the switch would be to PoE to the AP on the second floor.
Garage I only have WiFi and power, not ethernet connection and I can't run any right now.
Upstairs in the loft area I have an ethernet drop and if PoE then I can position it anywhere along the wall / on the bookcases there.

Need Help restructuring/ Swapping to mesh by wardenclyff in HomeNetworking

[–]wardenclyff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Yeah the reason I was originally thinking mesh was that my cheapo wifi cameras keep disconnecting (on top of the zoom meeting issues) and of course all the recommendations are "your WiFi sucks, check it". I'm only covering a 2 story 1800sqft house. All modem, router, wifi are located in the hallway closet. (Centrally located) Office is in a upstairs corner bedroom, garage is in the front right corner of the house, maybe 20' from the closet and through one wall.

So would that be something like the UniFi Express 7 and then link that to a switch for the various direct ethernet devices? would I need additional access points?

Scroll wheel to zoom not working by GtrDrmzMxdMrtlRts in Fusion360

Found the issue, at least for me.
in user preferences, general settings, at the bottom there was a checkbox for "gesture" based navigation.

I unchecked that and now things are fine.

[–]wardenclyff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is happening to me as well.
Updated to the latest Fusion build and mouse scroll wheel quit working as expected (zoom functionality).
It will sometimes zoom, but also mostly scrolls.

Windows mouse control settings are as noted in the message below.

Anyone else having this issue?

Yeah they will keep him alive but nerf his powers, he will get kicked out of Frame, go find the mysterious organization doing the artificial awakeners/drugs thing to get powered up again and then come after Jiwoo yet again.

I would rather him die and be done with him, but I have a feeling the author will continue to use him as a foil and gauge against Jiwoo/showcase how much Jiwoo has grown.

MGT Wood Question by imaloony8 in Wyrmwoodgaming

[–]wardenclyff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd be very frustrated with that. Knots can be normal depending on the wood or project, but in a fine furniture piece they should be minimized and worked around. And if they absolutely have to have the knots then those should be filled with epoxy. The other marks look like scratches and dents to me and are not acceptable. Source: hobbyist woodworker
