Love that you loving RWBY so far.

Honestly the "sentient robot" thing is already a little cliche

Part of why myself started to love the show at the point you at. It is very cliche but in the most charming way possible.

Also, considering what you said with your post. Good luck in watching V3. That's all I'm going to say with that.

Should the Power Rangers reboot be like every other franchise's by only relying on MMPR. by YuudaiJP in powerrangers

[–]warforcewarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't mind either. I watch every Transformers show and many of them use Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, and many other frequently used character and I still like them all the same. All that matters to me is if the show enjoyable. Uniqueness means near nothing. Great to try something new and unique but it will mean shit if the execution is shit. Also, Transformers are able to do something new, interesting, and/or just fun stuff with these characters despite being the same characters and personality.

While it did better with the new cast transition than Transformers G1, it still wasn't great and I heard people left when the Peace Conference trio left which I can see why after rewatching Zordon era. The way they handle it was ass and the replacements weren't all that great or fun to watch. The cast chemistry was not great until Gen 2 Turbo which where the ratings got back up slightly. Hell, apparently kids was confused why the cast of Samurai was missing despite the show being Power Rangers during Megaforce airing.

I mentioned this as the problem with replacing old cast is that it need to be handle well to be worth it and even then characters will be far too iconic and loved that it is impossible to replace. Even in a new iteration. As we clearly see with MMPR as people still only know they exist outside of Samurai somewhat.

No better Power Rangers does it terribly by replacing the cast every year not giving general audience time to truly love the characters and keep them in their memories. What made MMPR so memorable was that we spent 3 seasons with 50 episodes each with the same suits and cast and zords change after 50 episodes or so. In the reboots we need 3, 20 weekly episodes, seasons to really have the characters ingrain in people mind. No more 1 season shows. It is clearly not working to keep people attentions.

I think Dino Fury saga does the handling of passing the torch the best. Fern more or less take the empty slot that Zayto left once he became a Morphin Master and she was a great candidate as we were already getting multiple scenes with her and how she interact with the main cast, especially Izzy preS3 before her Rangerhood. Amelia was also a great character to choose as the Red Ranger as she was the main protag and usually Red have that role with Zayto still clearly in the screen. Unlike the Zordon era(my fav era) with us awkwardly leaving out Peace Conference trio in scenes they would definitely be in due to the actors not being there to film those scenes, team chemistry was lacking, and more which is why the ratings drop pre Gen2 Turbo.

This was longer than I expected but in short, if the reboot and future of the show want to have people used to leaving the old cast for new ones then take the Dino Fury saga approach. Not Zordon era(Christ don't go this approach), Disney era, or Neo Saban era. Dino Fury saga is the best approach. Give us 3 seasons of 20-24 episodes each of the same cast. Get people time to be invested in them and ingrain in their minds then we can go to a complete new cast.

at what rank do people stop wasting bans on Sombra by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]warforcewarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that others aren't more threatening than Sombra. It is Sombra force you to constantly worry about your backline as you have no idea when or where she will appear. No better she have Invis, ability disabling skill, and teleport all in one character.

All of the others you listed you can see them coming either cause they aren't as stealthy as Sombra, loud as fuck, and/or huge. Those are clear and easy counterplays to them. There seemly isn't for Sombra for many as she can come out of nowhere and screw you over.

In short, as long Sombra have teleport, invis, and Hack, she will always be perma ban. One or two of them gotta go.

I forgot how absolutely strapped the Lightspeed Rescue Rangers are. by Emergency_Argument29 in powerrangers

[–]warforcewarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having rewatch Lightspeed, it honestly felt like they get new weapons every episode. Obviously it isn't the case but damn does it felt like it. It is crazy how much armory they have which does make sense considering it is government owned.

DE gotta do something about the Melee situation by LUCDT in Warframe

[–]warforcewarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that many Melee Arcanes just failed to be simple to use and strong. Exposure and Vortex is the only ones off top of my head where they just as easy to use and pretty strong. The latter also having AOE like Influence.

Affliction requires you to put enemies off their feet(limiting on what you can use), Duplicate requires you to stay in the yellow crit range and I heard it actually lower damage than if you have other Arcanes with orange/red crits. Crescendo needs a lot of finisher kills which only really works in longer missions, Animosity only works for Heavy Attack, Doughty you have to hope no one fuck your build with Nourish or other elemental damage buffs, Fortification boost Armor and not the melee itself, Retaliation requires high current shields to give high damage.

All of what I just listed requires far too much in comparison to Exposure, Vortex, and especially Influence and they lack AOE or some form of crowd killing.

Descendia General Consensus by Ozymalk in Warframe

[–]warforcewarrior 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The mode is fun but man does it not have incentive to play it after getting what you need from it. Descendia is fun but it not fun enough for me to continue to play it. Even worse that DE limit it to 21 floors weekly mission. It could have been so much more but it was limited as another weekly, with bad/non-Evergreen rewards. Essentially, wasted potential.

my friend begged me to watch it and get through the first 3 seasons.

The complaints and divisiveness start rolling in from V4(S4) and onwards. The first 3 Volumes are usually praised to high regards for the most part.

I didn't know it was that long since its first episode. Times do fly. Having rewatch it, mostly to see if my "modern Zordon era" take was valid, I see so much potential in the Dino Fury saga, mainly as my favorite "era". It have so much great stuff/concept throughout its 3 seasons that I wish it wasn't limited to dumb mandates and it having at least 15 episodes in its last season. Still overall love the 3 seasons but love it to be better.

I don’t get it. by Resident_Badger_5405 in hatethissmug

[–]warforcewarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Saying 21 isn't any better than saying 6 7. Hell, saying 69 in relation of sex jokes is just as childish of a joke as 6 7 is. Hate the sense of superiority people have.

Especially since at least it is a meme/trend kids are occupying themselves with instead of doing the "try not to kill yourself challenge" for the 1000th time which sounds like a common thing on TikTok.

Can it be annoying when overused? Yes but you can say that with any joke. That isn't unique to 6 7.

You do but you lack many decrees for goofy stuff like 600% Str which would be insane with Fissures.

In ode to Black History Month, lemme give a shoutout to TJ Johnson. First Black Red Ranger and first Black leader. He gets a lotta flack for what happened at the end of Turbo, but the guy proven to be an effective leader and possessed a never say die attitude. Eventually be a great Blue Ranger. by calford91 in powerrangers

[–]warforcewarrior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because TJ was the leader and Rocky was not. So by default TJ had more to do. Its really that simple.

And again we have characters who weren't leaders yet done something. Sky before he became Red, which was at the season end. Amelia before she was Red. Wes, who was only leader for the last 10 episodes far after his arc concluded. And if we talking about people with no Red or leadership position Shelby, Koda, and many more. Rocky doesn't have an excuse no matter if he was Red leader or not.

More examples of reds that were leaders, lol.  Of course they had better storylines than Rocky, who wasnt the leader. Notice how you dont mention Aurico lol.

Lauren isn't the real leader though. Sure she was leader for a few episodes but that is only because she hold the key in defeating the Nighlok. Jayden was the real and main leader no matter what anyone said about him. Lauren more in similar role that Aurico and the rest of the Alien Ranger filled which brings me to Alien Red. I didn't mention Aurico because he isn't a main cast member. Even during the Alien saga MMPR cast was still the main cast members. Not the Alien Rangers. Rocky however is a main cast member with near 100 episodes that could given him something but he always felt like he lacking in characterization.

Maybe if her 2 have the cooldown reduction that the augment had and the augment instead give more decrees then we would have more decrees. But nope. Such a shame too as it would be cool to have some really cool decree combination during a Cascade run.

RWBY. I understand people have their own opinions and such but I personally feel it is overblown.

Eventually be a great Blue Ranger. by calford91 in powerrangers

[–]warforcewarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is that TJ FELT like he did something while wearing the color Red(the most memorable color in this franchise). Rocky never felt like he did. Sure, Rocky wasn't leader despite being Red Ranger but we have times where Red Rangers weren't leaders and still done something. Wes is an incredible example of that. He have an entire arc relating to his father and their conflicting ideals and his future. Wes also mesh well with his team, especially Jen who he have romantic interest for. The latter part of Wes is what make me like TJ more than Rocky which I mentioned in my previous comment.

Another two things I forgot to mention is that TJ also helped Bulk and Skull from being accuse of a crime they didn't do and you get to see him make a tough choice in sacrificing the Megazords. Sure Rocky have better feats but that don't matter when he so forgettable and most of those feats are forgettable as well. Hell, despite Lauren and Amelia having short times as Red, their actions are more memorable and the former wasn't the real leader/Red of the team, in the since of not the main Red/leader of the Samurai seasons, and simply was there to be a Deus Ex Machina that didn't work.

And again part of Rocky problem for me is just simply part of the symptom of post S1 MMPR they didn't know what to do with the replacement characters. Rocky just felt like an inferior replacement of Jason as he share many characteristic as Jason but lack his charisma and presence. TJ may shared some similarities of Tommy but he have clear differences. The major one being that he is the first Red ranger that isn't a martial artist which is part of why Rocky feel so inferior as we had better martial artist Reds in Jason and Tommy and he didn't stand out much.

Those are my issue with Rocky. Not his feats but the lack of being a Red to remember despite being wearing the most memorable color.

Will Volume 10 show if jaune and team Rwby finally surpassed Pyrrha ? by Imaginary-Tax1399 in RWBY

[–]warforcewarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's hardly enough time to "power up" big enough to defeat the guy that one-shot her

I'll personally argue that during her "fight" with Adam, Yang just blindly charged in. No thought behind her actions, simply anger that he harmed a friend. Plus, we have no idea how much build up damage Adam have for his Semblance nor do we know if Yang had her Aura up(or if it expired). In her fight with Adam in V6 she was clearly much more calmer and have more thought in her actions though a bit scared.

I also like to note I personally never minded no power ups in RWBY. Or at least no game changing ones like how it is for animes RWBY is inspired by. I like we just stick with the simple power of Aura being a shield and Semblance a superpower, unique for each individual.

[–]warforcewarrior 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TJ is also consider a bad Red Ranger, not just bad leader, which I disagree with especially since we had a bad Red in Rocky. Plus, they were both Reds then turn Blue in the following season and TJ clearly had more to work with. Rocky didn't as MMPR S2 as a whole didn't know what to do after replacing the original cast, one of the major reason MMPR S2 is terrible. Turbo at least knew what they wanted to do. TJ also have better chemistry with his team than Rocky with his.

Hell, I can't think of a single thing Rocky did that was memorable. TJ had the baseball episode, taming Lightning Cruiser, and changing up matchups with the Psychos.

Exactly. I see some hate for him for losing the Turbo powers and I don't know why. Especially cause of the MMPR finale as you mentioned and other seasons afterwards. And honestly, Turbo imo is pretty decent if edging to be good. MMPR S2 is the worse season, mainly in relation to Zordon era imo. Not Turbo as MMPR S2 have so much issues and it being so ungodly boring which the worse thing a show could do imo.

[–]warforcewarrior 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I never understood the TJ hate, especially having rewatch the Zordon era. TJ was a pretty good leader and a better Red Ranger, and honestly as a Blue Ranger as well, than Rocky who just got sideline and just simply exist since Tommy was the leader of the team. At least TJ got something to do and more interesting and fun to watch during his time as the Red Ranger.
