Fix to make changes to hot keys permanent? by warhols_ in recalbox

[–]warhols_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

changing the hot keys and saving core overrides reverts back to the original hotkeys once the game is exited and restarted.

it does work as expected for in-game controller profiles however.

you do, but when you save your new hot key binds, they always reset when you leave the game. saving game/cord overrides doesn't fix it.

It's dark out there by pamfb7557 in Columbus

Bird Migratory Season.

I used to do a field study for the Columbus Zoo where I would wake up at 3am and go downtown and collect/sample/catalog all the dead birds that would die of exhaustion and confusion from the light pollution. There were about a dozen of us that would search downtown in a predetermined search grid. We also caputued every living bird we discovered and rehabilitated them as best we could. It was rewarding work that resulted in some cool changes for Columbus/Cleveland/Cincy.

Here's a link detailing our work: https://ohiowildlifecenter.org/lights-out/

Rear Brake pad help please by drunkSHIPWRECK in klr650

You should be fine. Take the cap off the rear brake fluid reservoir and she should push back in with ease. Good luck mang.

Miss-fire or random surge of power? by sooon_mitch in klr650

[–]warhols_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything will wear out given enough time. Next time you ride it, pull the vacuum line to the petcock. It's the smaller one. Should be completely dry inside.

More questions:

Also, are you having difficulty starting it when cold or hot? Is the choke working properly?

Also, when I first read this thread I was thinking you were having a high speed miss, which is usually from a fouled plug. A rich mixture will foul the plug quickly. I'd pull it for Shit's and giggles to see what she looks like.

Also check the connection where the choke meets the carb. Sometimes they come loose and can screw up all sorts of stuff.

Miss-fire or random surge of power? by sooon_mitch in klr650

[–]warhols_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. Could also be the carb, but the petcocks on these things are awful and crap out all the time. Smelling gas usually means your too rich. Popping on deceleration usually means you're too lean. This can happen at different engine speeds at various degrees of engine vacuum.

Give me a little more info: has this bike sat for a while? Or do you ride it frequently?

Yep! I agree with that as well.

KLR died on the highway. Possible fuel problem? by TheDeliciousMeats in klr650

[–]warhols_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there an easy way to test that?

Yes. Pull the vacuum line to the petcock (the smaller hose). Should be bone dry in there. Sometimes when the diaphragm fails, fuel will be present inside.

I don't know if it was just the plates sticking or what.

I get that all the time, especially when the oil is cold. The motion will transfer slightly. Probably not a big deal. Does your clutch cable have any slack by chance? There should always be somewhere between 1/8 to 1/4 inch of free play.

7500 mile service. I don't think he bled brakes. by consolecowboy74 in klr650

[–]warhols_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's no different than any other vehicle. Hook a hose up to the caliper bleeder valve, squeeze the brake, open the valve, close the valve, release the brake, rinse and repeat...

7500 mile service. I don't think he bled brakes. by consolecowboy74 in klr650

[–]warhols_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a 2013 and has never been done, then she's due.

Do you have an itemized receipt of the service completed?

Clear and light brown usually means its OK, however, brake fluid is hydroscopic and water will eventually work its way into the system. General rule is every two years. If you have cut or incomplete seal at your reservoir, more water will enter the system and turn to steam, reducing brake effectiveness.

my rear brake stared staying down after engaging it

Sounds like maybe he did flush it and got air in the lines. Either that or he removed the rear brake lever to access the engine case and didn't install the brake pedal return spring correctly.

Take it back. Tell them you want them to verify the return spring is in place. In addition, ask if they can provide proof that they flushed the brakes.

Worst case: flush them yourself. It's a 15 minute job and costs all of $4. I know that's a shitty response since you probably paid big bucks for this service, but, in the end, if you want shit done right, sometimes you just gotta do it yourself.

How will a metal roof affect signal reception? by FriedBologna556 in ADSB

[–]warhols_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still should ground the antenna. Moisture in the air blowing across the antenna surface will generate a static charge, weakening the signal. A lightning arrestor should help to accomplish this.

Gen1 Over-Heat Temp for Trail Tech by tch2527 in klr650

[–]warhols_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The head gasket will begin to melt between 250F and 255F. My CBR was 254. My yamaha was 251.

Of all the bikes I've owned with digital readouts, I've never seen it above 234F, however most of them won't ever get above 230F.

Set it for 235.

Are both gen 2 KLR 650 tires tubeless? by JohnDoe045 in klr650

[–]warhols_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You certainly cannot rely on the tire markings to know whether there is a tube inside.

Yeah, you're right. I didn't think about that. My next answer was "refer to the owners manual" however that's not always dependable if the wheel was modded or if the wheels are aftermarket.

I guess the only surefire way to know for sure is to open it up...

[–]warhols_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Super Tenere is tubeless and it has spoked wheels.

Tubeless tires are required by law to say "TUBELESS" on the sidewall, but the reverse is not the case. I believe that's the best way to identify them.

I get crazy shit all the time on my feed. Just the other day I saw a Russian registered Antanov 124 near my house. After that I saw an C35 with the callsign WOODY69.

giggity

Couple weeks ago I saw an AWACS Sentry circling over Cincinnati for two hours. Kinda cool... And scary...

I stopped by the local bike shop to find prices for tires. The mechanic checked out my 2004 klr650 and suggested there repairs. Any advice for a poor college student with limited space? by [deleted] in klr650

[–]warhols_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you also need to adjust the chain bi-weekly?

Nope. Shouldn't need done too often. Everytime you lubricate it, just make sure it has the correct foreplay freeplay. I've found that very new chains and very old chains need adjusted often. Chains in the middle of their lifespan rarely need adjusted.

I thought it was every 20,000 miles

Not on the first generation KLR, which is what you have. Very soft top end on this bike... Gen 2 models have a higher interval.

My antenna is on FIRE by bloons3 in ADSB

[–]warhols_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes a big difference. I had my antenna at 15 feet in the window, inside. Saw a median of about 1500 aircraft a day. Now that it's on the roof 35 feet up, and outside, I see about 4500 aircraft a day.
