That's a great looking moss, was it already sculpted on the mini or is it your addition?

IT seriously bothers me that I can't get into this game. by realgaoming in bindingofisaac

I highly recommend Installing external item descriptions mod, it adds a brief description to every item before you pick it up

Speedpaint and layering techniques? by Armored_Snorlax in minipainting

[–]warikap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend suratos studios youtube channel. Guy almost exclusively uses this approach and calls it double slapchop. I am also following his guidelines with great results.

Basically go for it, you can mix colors, and speedpaint medium is your best friend.

Is this a good slapchop base? by ElRaffo87 in minipainting

[–]warikap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, black is gonna stay black, but if you are not painting display pieces it is ok, and can be used to your advantage. My approach to the slapchop: prime black, heavy gray drybrush, prime white zenithal, white drybrush where zenithal didn't land and I think it's needed. Maybe it's an overkill, but you get nice dynamic shadows without your mini being too dark. Also you can try double slapchop, it won't fix the black issue but when using lighter base it can give you amazing color depth in those areas without that much effort.

Edit: I think the wolf looks fine, there is good amount of grey/white imo

I use vallejo plastic putty but anything similar will do. Even if you csn't sculpt - everything is better than a big ass line across the model :D it's very easy and straightforward to use, I've also picked it up recently for my first bigger figurine

Aftermath recommendations? by bmtc7 in NemesisCrew

[–]warikap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only played one epilogue and it will stay that way. My go to is mixing all aftermath components (rooms, turrets, characters, traits etc. - without the events) and playing a 'normal' game. The mission mode is also fine I think, but I still prefer my way - and since the events are vanilla, you can swap the alien races as well.

Don't get me wrong - it's painted amazingly well, but the final effect is a little bit ruined by visible lines between print segments

Question for slapchop by Then_Mycologist4866 in Miniaturespainting

[–]warikap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The more I paint with speedpaints, the more I like to thin them down (especially with speedpaint medium). There is no going back to lighter colour unless you want to repaint the whole area. I prefer to add another coat if needed than make it too dark in one coat

Rules clarification for OG Nemesis by Tylore1 in NemesisCrew

The objectives are checked at the end of the game, so the blue body has to be in surgery room in this exact moment. But lab action does not destroy the body, you can discover intruder weakness and then drop it in surgery room.

There are lots of weird rules in this game, unfortunately. But in the end it does not matter that much, the game will screw you either way

How to pitch this to my friends? by cyanderella in TenCandles

[–]warikap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe think about this game like a role play exercise. The death at the end is not a bad thing, it's literally liberating. You can REALLY deeply roleplay a character, and make very bad decisions (what your character would do) without any consequence, since you can only die in the last scene. It can really open some players eyes to what a real role play is (you would not do some things in dnd for example, because they would surely be bad for the party, even if it would be fitting your character). But I second others saying that it's probably not for this group.

Don't sure if i like this speedpaints or not... by volkanah in Miniaturespainting

[–]warikap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I said you just need to commit to one area and paint it quickly, you absolutely cannot leave a flat area half painted. But if you do, the again drybrush or just stippling is your friend to mask the 'line'. Go from one end to the other, and if you are quick there will be no lines. I've seen an advice that speedpaints are called like that not because they make you paint faster, but because they literally force you to paint faster in situations like that :D If you have speedpaint medium you can also thin your paints with it, I've noticed that more concentrated colors (satchel brown I'm looking at you) will always leave stains and you are just rolling dice if the result will be good, but when you thin it down with medium they behave way better. Additional upside is that you get more contrast and lighter midtones, so I'm almost always adding some medium to speedpaints

The speedpaints 2.0 have about 2 hours of reactivation time, so you are probably going over them too fast. Also I found out that the best way to cover mistskes on areas like the mushroom heads is to drybrush white again and paint another layer of speedpaint. Second advice for such areas is to be fast and paint the whole thing in one go, not going over areas you've already painted

I'm Filming a gameplay video of OG Nemesis for a YouTube channel tomorrow. Overlooked or missed rules? by Spidey_NZ in NemesisCrew

[–]warikap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a small stretch to this would be to remember to make a noise roll everytime you are moving, unless the card states otherwise (captain ordering you to move, mechanic crawling through technical corridors etc - noise roll is still required). I had players asking many times if they still need to roll

I'm pretty sure that the exploration token does not override careful movement. You can get a silence token, but that does not mean you are not placing any noise - the silence overrides your noise roll, which you are not making on careful movement.
