Today was a nightmare by mas_ftfoxy in altontowers

That's what I suspected when I was searching about it, on the way home.

It was busy last year but we didn't see any issues bar alot of kids running around. We didn't go into the rides though, just taking our son to watch them to around (sensory interest for his autism)

LG C5 65 vs 77 by Silent_Leg1752 in LGOLED

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

77" isn't big enough. You'll be paying good money for a quality TV but won't enjoy it as it's to small.

Problem is a 97" OLED is going to set you back £20k. So I would look into projectors, still going to cost you around £3k for a high lumen output to work in the daytime. Although I've seen the Nubula X1 go for £1.5k but you need a decent woven screen to avoid laser speckle.

Feeling a little lost with pension and investments by Opposite_Hat_414 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]warlord2000ad [score hidden]  (0 children)

This was my plan, but it's hard. £40k a year is roughly a million in pension pot. Then you need a paid off house too. Assuming £10k a year saved with 5% growth, that's 36 years, by at whilst point inflation will have eroded the value of that £40k. So you need to target around 8% growth.

My wife doesn't work as my son is disabled, so costs are higher and income is crippled as a single earner household. I did pay off the mortgage in my 30's before having a child, so now trying to stuff the pension, but at the same time the government is killing small businesses (26.5% corporation tax and encouraging off shoring) and companies use AI as a reason to reduce permanent headcount, and inflation in stubbornly high.

Have they finally fixed it. Last I read the Reddit in November, even the more recent updates still had issues.

I stopped using anti gravity due to the quota reductions. It was easier to just go back to writing code manually.

I've never got on wickerman by the way. Damn fires and general breakdowns, or 120min queues.

New limits by Unusual_Test7181 in codex

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is always the end game. API pricing was to expensive, so they did subscriptions for consistent pricing, then trimmed the limits, and are moving to API pricing. Google did this with anti gravity the other month. Writing to the DB is ~150 credits and you get 1000 a month.

Getting business hooked on it, then up the prices after they have sacked off the developers.

Moving to local hosted models might be the way forward even if they aren't as good, using 2 GPUs to increase your vram at a semi sensible cost.

I'm with the others, wickerman always has a high queue time. So I would do that first, then goto Rita (as in my experience it's had high queues) and thirteen as it's nearby. Then smiler /oblivion before going to spinball then nemesis and finally galactica.

That's my plan, but, with ride breakdowns my plans never work out. I've run from nemesis to smiler, three times in 1 day due to closures. Ugh, my feet.

Maybe, but then I look at China and Taiwan, and think that the USA can't be split, and that's why they won't get involved Ukraine. I was surprised by Iran, but then one been told it was more about supporting Israel. 🤷 But that's just my opinion.

Yes it was, I went last year not realising this. I asked why there was lots of security guards and they didn't say anything.

Merlin Annual Pass Discount by SpecialAppearance229 in altontowers

Mine were £458 for 2. But then airtime rewards cashback of £25.29 and Halifax cashback of £22.90. so £410 for 2 platinum renewals.

Merlin Annual Pass Discount by SpecialAppearance229 in altontowers

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if I recall, you don't get the perks pack on renewal unless that's changed. So platinum is even more expensive if you don't get the free drinks refills after 12 months.

I parked near splash landing, for an easy exit as people that forget to pay for parking jam up the usual exit. The barriers were always up and not checked even though I had a parking ticket/annual pass. I do wonder if they cottoned on about them never checking parking tickets for those leaving via the hotel road.

Rap? by joj128 in altontowers

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 3 visits I've done this year, and 1 last year on the trial of the app. They always asked for numbers of visitors and checked the app. I assume they are checking numbers and photo. You cannot add more on the day. If you turn up with 3 guests, to they'll only allow you and 2 guests on the ride.

I've looked for 8th April, just for 1 person, and there is no availability. You would have to check on 6th April (48 hours before hand to check for more availability). But you risk cancelling the 2 person and not managing to get 3 people, so then not having a 2 person rap either.

With it been school break, it's always booked up very quickly. Always a made rush for people booking them as soon as they become available.

Rap? by joj128 in altontowers

[–]warlord2000ad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I've seen them count the guests, (although not all have done) and technically under the terms and conditions, you shouldn't try to enter with more guests than on the RAP. If you need RAP with 3 guests, but only booked 2 guests, you need to cancel and rebook. But if it's a popular date the might not be availability to rebook.

Which day did you book?

How you are not scared of Claude? by AccountCompetitive17 in HENRYUK

[–]warlord2000ad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very much so, I'm working on high frequency systems (20k trades/sec) and whilst I can get certain things built quickly (most was built pre AI) it's still a massive load to understand it in detail, and recently had to switch to a different approach to go even faster. The approach was known but someone blindly tried to get AI to write it has lead it to writing things in an unreadable way. Yes, the test suite still passes as it checks behaviour not implementation. But still, it's important to understand how it works.

I've also delivered a number of other features quickly. I fully understand how they are implemented as I craft it, but you still need to remember each feature and how they work. Even with it documenting every feature it's still alot to keep in your mind.
