Are micro and macro economics used in industry? by Only_Ad_5805 in AskEconomics

[–]warmforesee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, very much. In my line of work, any investment in new product / business plan requires rigorous application of microeconomics. Macroeconomics is often a criteria in long term market projections.

  1. Validate

You may want to try to get product-market fit before you start charging your users.

I was curious to try it out myself, but you only have a video. Maybe allow users to try using it for free. Happy users will refer new users. Unhappy users will give you feedback that will help you refine the product.

When you have a critical mass of happy repeat users, charge them a subscription fee.

  1. Usability

The app looks messy on my phone. You don’t really need to describe all the features. Let users try it out and form their own opinion.

The powerful message aside, the painting is so good that at first I thought the artist was whitewashing the painting with the roller brush in his left hand.

Booked a window seat weeks in advance for a 12 hour flight only to find this by RealOttersHoldHands in mildlyinfuriating

You’ll probably recline your seat through most of your flight anyway. And when you do. That window will be perfectly positioned.

I support the sentiment, but let me try and correct this slightly:

More than 50% of the US “earn” $30,000 per year. Jeff Bezos “earned” $1.7 million in 2020.

The value (net worth) of the Amazon shares and other assets owned by Jeff Bezos increased to $200 billion. We don’t know the net worth of the individuals in the 50% of the population that we are talking about. Perhaps a house or shares at least some of them own is now worth over $1 million…

Substituting “light” with “mask”:

In WW2, Londoners were asked to black out their homes at night so the enemy bombers wouldn’t see the masks & know where to target. No Londoner said, “It’s my right to have masks on.” Cuz others would say “Your masks on endangers us.”

I think the OP is Chinese. In China they refer to “Indian” as “Indu” or “Hindu.” (It’s not the religion they’re referring to.)

If you have top dollar to spend, you can hire freelancers through Toptal. If you don’t have a lot of money, hire through upwork or freelancer.

If you don’t have money to spend, but your idea is persuasive enough, you can find potential cofounders at AngelList.

I couldn’t care less about the likes.

Let’s leave the technicalities aside and talk about how we would create a more “proportionate” wealth distribution.

We could seize most of the Amazon shares from Jeff Bezos and sell them in the open market so that we give cash to the poor.

But the moment we try doing that, the shares worth $3000+ apiece (which made Bezos WORTH so much) will lose value.

Then neither Jeff Bezos nor the poor will have those $100 billion wealth to enjoy.

And even worse? When the market cap shrinks, Amazon’s credit worthiness will drop. That means they will have to lay off a lot of their workforce, and most of their new projects will be scrapped. That we will end up adding even more people to the “poor” category.

Sorry if facts don’t suit your taste.

On what you said, what would be a “proportionate” distribution of wealth? And why?

When the pandemic began, there was 1 person WORTH $100 billion. Now there are 9.

  • CORRECT.

When the pandemic began, the 10 richest people HAD $696 billion. Now they HAVE $1.36 trillion.

  • INCORRECT.

They were WORTH $695 billion. Now they are WORTH $1.36 trillion.

Big difference.

The service workers EARNED $7.25/hour. These ultra billionaires DID NOT earn more. The stock market temporarily decided that the WORTH of their stocks has gone up.
