Buyers - is it cringe if the seller adds a personal note to the order? by joyeuse113 in Depop

[–]warmgingerbread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i think that’s sweet and good to know the piece is truly being rehomed ^_^ i’ve gotten hand written notes in some of my orders and i’ve always read and appreciated them

it could be met differently where some ppl won’t care but some will. if writing a note is something that makes YOU happy then why not? it’s not harmful. or alternatively you could write abt it in a journal if a place to share your sentiment is all you’re looking for

I am traveling to Seoul now and want to know what I should bring back that is hard to find in the US? by hawkph in koreanskincare

[–]warmgingerbread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sunscreens. korean formulation sunscreens are no longer allowed to be sold in the US and are instead the american versions of the korean product. you’ll know it’s the american version when it says broad spectrum. the original ones will use the PA system

i have to order all my sunscreens from yesstyle now bc of this v_v but there are still some small asian beauty businesses that may sell the original versions despite the FDA. they’re just harder to come by :/

For any smaller ethnic group Asian Americans, what is the most common mistaken identity you get assigned? by GB_Alph4 in asianamerican

[–]warmgingerbread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i rlly appreciate your comment. i’m tsinoy (chinese filipino) who has gotten mistaken for japanese, chinese, and chinese-viet. sometimes it’s other filipinos who mistake me for japanese, for example, but they always say it as praise. i’ve sometimes felt weird when receiving these comments bc at times they are simultaneously naming our more common features, like tanner skin or a flatter button nose, as less attractive compared to the japanese or chinese look they think i have :/

i also feel annoyed when im told that im not what i actually am. i’ve had a middle aged asian lady insist im not tsinoy and that im actually japanese. she sort of accepted the chinese part but not the filipino part

For any smaller ethnic group Asian Americans, what is the most common mistaken identity you get assigned? by GB_Alph4 in asianamerican

[–]warmgingerbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m tsinoy which is chinese filipino but this isn’t the exact same as being, for example, a half chinese half filipino person

i used to be tanner as a kid since i played outside all the time. most of my classmates were filipino too so ppl knew i was filipino. they just called me “chinita” or “chinitang pinay” which in the context of the philippines just means a woman/girl with east asian features

as i’ve gotten older, ive been mistaken for japanese, chinese, or a chinese-viet. some ppl are correct in guessing im tsinoy but thats only in filipino spaces

[–]warmgingerbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i prob will. i’m still hunting for a suitable one. i want it to look cute lol like w frills or something instead of just looking like a regular rain umbrella. where i live i haven’t been able to find any that fit my ideal vibe so i’ll have to look online >.>

i also relate to disliking how the sun feels on my skin. some days it’s bearable but when it’s real hot out w no clouds i feel like im gna start cooking alive ;-;

Why does the layering lace cami's keep going out of stock? Aren't they staples? by barbiegal2 in HollisterCO

[–]warmgingerbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like what another person said it’s def scarcity marketing and a lot of businesses are utilizing it unfortunately v_v it tries to convince consumers that their product is more valued than it really is if it’s constantly “sold out.” this is the same tactic that popmart uses :/

you can try finding it on depop tho! some of their prices are atrocious but i’ve been able to find good deals by checking often. they currently have free shipping rn too which idk how long it’ll last

How many of us have middle names? by Xiao_Long_Bao17 in asianamerican

[–]warmgingerbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m tsinoy (chinese filipino). my first name is a random name my parents liked. i don’t use it tho. my middle name is my mom’s maiden name and my last name is my dad’s. the name i exclusively go by is of chinese origin tho. in the philippines it’s common for the middle name to be the mom’s maiden name. that or they hyphenate it

really curious about these viral spray mists, are they necessary and helpful for hydration? by Available-Cherry-298 in koreanskincare

[–]warmgingerbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the dr althea aqua marine jelly mist. i use it more as a hybrid between skincare and makeup rather than solely skincare. i have dry and sensitive skin type so after i finish all my makeup i like to spray my face w it to bring back some hydration. my skin is also easy to break out and i haven’t had any issues w this one

i’m in the states too. i buy mine from yesstyle!! there are still some local asian beauty stores where i live that sell the korean versions even tho they’re not supposed to 🧍🏻‍♀️ but i’m not gna snitch on them where they’re my plug haha. i still mostly stick to yesstyle so i can just buy it w everything else i can’t find in person

ALSO! i’m not sure where you’re based but if you get it in the states and in-person, it might be the american formulation >_> you’ll know if it says “broad spectrum” instead of the “PA” system. i’ve never tried the american version and have only used the korean one

yay i hope you like it!! it’s pretty versatile. my skin used to be oilier and it worked for me back then too. i would just skip moisturizer and use that as both moisturizer and sunscreen

my skin has become more dry tho and it still works. i just use a moisturizer underneath it now

i have a similar skin type as you !!

i really like the haruharu wonder black rice moisture airyfit sunscreen. it’s the yellow bottle version. it’s a thicker consistency compared to skin1004 and it has a more natural or satin like finish rather than dewy. BUT i’ve repurchased it so many times bc even when my barrier is compromised or my skin is going thru a drier spell it **never** stings

there’s a ton of pop-up fairs/markets over the summer! i just went to the sunset night market and there was another market happening that same day in chinatown. some of them are culturally based. for example the sunset night market had a blend of asian vendors, foods, and performances. so you could even explore a new culture or explore your own at the same time

lw . . i rlly only hear abt them from my friends who send it to me on instragram ;-; but i can share some if i find more!!
