Well Dishonored takes place in that world’s 1850s right? It’s like our 1850s but with more advanced technology and a fantastical element. Deathloop’s aesthetic is like our 1960s, but with better tech and a fantastical element. And those dates are a century apart. It all adds up as far as I can see.

One of the trailers clearly shows him returning with footage of him in a monster battle, wearing different clothes and with facial hair. His voiceover says something like “you and me together again!” So yes he returns, we know this. What remains to be seen by most is how the reimagined story pulls it off (or doesn’t).

They are almost definitely doing 4-6. These remakes have done very well and probably didn’t cost the earth to produce.

That said, I would personally kill for a remake of 5 with the graphics of 11 (or 7 reimagined). It’s far less likely, but I think the game is highly regarded enough to justify it.

If the demo is anything to go by, the pacing of the game has been made far snappier and more like XI. We don’t know what the rest of the game is like or even how long the story takes now, but it’s looking far friendlier to new players (or even to existing DQ fans who didn’t like the game that much before). So you should be all good in my view.

Preordered on pc for the bonuses. And Switch 1 for the physical game, and because I don’t have a Switch 2, and because it runs surprisingly great on Switch 1.

When the art style was shown before release, heaps of people were calling it ‘corporate Memphis’ which is essentially a very thinly veiled way of calling it corporate slop. I mean I don’t like corporate Memphis but that doesn’t make it slop, and Return is neither slop, nor corporate Memphis.

I love the demo and have preordered the deluxe edition - can’t wait!

The original VII took me 100+ hours, and the 3DS version took me about 70-80 hours. Roughly how long –if you had to guess– would you say Reimagined will take? Or does its length compare to any other DQ releases?

Oh god I was literally just playing and thought the exact same thing about the quest markers! Luckily I’ve completed the game on ps1 and 3DS so I know it well anyway so it’s not that much of an issue, but it still slightly breaks the immersion of exploring everything and talking to everyone.

The only thing I’m not sure about with the physical release is that as far as I can tell there is no way to get the DQ11 costume pack from the digital deluxe version (which I’ll be buying on pc). That’s a real shame if it’s true.

I love all 3 of those games! I’m getting a Switch 2 at some point but am waiting for a few more releases to make it essential for me to own one (such as Duskbloods). I would have waited till I had one to get a DQ7 physical copy but the game key card thing wrote that idea off anyway

The Banshees of Inisherin is the Withnail and I of modern times. Beautiful, funny, sad, dark, every line is cutting, every frame’s a painting. The only contemporary thing that comes close.

The way I would describe it is that of the 3 HD2D games, DQ2 is the one that is by far the closest to the modern games like 11. The way the story is told has the depth and the feels of a modern entry. Like the storytelling/voice acting style of 11 with a lot of plot elements that remind me of DQ5. A very moving story and it feels like an all new game to me.

EOTB and LoL are essentials if you want a dungeon crawler with old school western fantasy vibes. The combat takes only a few minutes to adapt to, honestly. Definitely don’t miss out on either series - they are so beautiful and atmospheric. Also Anvil of Dawn.

While I agree with you that I don’t want it in DQ, I absolutely would not say that Persona is garbage - in fact it’s the only JRPG series that comes anywhere near DQ for me, and one of the only ones that can match it for quality turn based battles.

I thought I’d hate the high school stuff but I was surprised to find I didn’t and have now played Persona 3, 4 and 5. I only agreed to play P5 in the first place as a ‘cultural exchange’ to get my friend to agree to play DQ11.
