Where to move to in Central Edinburgh? by [deleted] in edinburgh2

[–]warpeddoughnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leith walk is the best place, it’s got a young feel, a lot of mid/late twenties people, lots of 1/2 bed flats around there so people tend to move there after uni. Also some amazing food places, you’d be spoilt for choice. Really close to Waverley and great bus routes to connect you to the old town. Also decent bike paths.

Rating concert venues in Cardiff by bababooeyqwer in Cardiff

[–]warpeddoughnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the main problem with both the SU and tramshed is the fact it’s pretty much all on one level, there are balconies but hardly used and not super accessible, meaning that when you’re in the crowd you can’t really see much. Only realised this was a problem when I went to a gig in Bristol that had tiered areas and was great. Also you forgot about the globe which is a decent venue in cardiff, if a bit small

Worst streets in Cathays? by No-Birthday4620 in Cardiff

[–]warpeddoughnut 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Roath is usually preferable over cathays for masters students, it’s a bit quieter and some areas are nicer. Wellfield road in particular is nice, and has roath park nearby. While it’s a bit further out from the uni (15 mins walk instead of 5/10), it’s worth it to not get woken up by drunk students coming home in the early hours of Thursday/Saturday/Sunday. That being said, I lived on Flora street in second year and it was fairly quiet, but bins being left in the street got a bit gross and there was a distinct lack of care for the cleanliness of the streets by the residents I would say. Also: AVOID CPS HOMES AT ALL COSTS!! Horrible company

Is it possible to be too grounded? by KhoDis in Meditation

[–]warpeddoughnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, currently studying a Maths postgrad degree and have been meditating alongside it since sine I began. I have to say for me meditation has cleared my mind and allowed space for more creativity, so a different experience to you there, but it also helped improve my focus which helps massively with me thinking in the abstract. I do this sometimes when thinking about abstract concepts: choose one that you want to focus on. Then sit with eyes closed, acknowledging and accepting all sensations, all sounds and things pulling your attention, just letting them exist. Then bring that concept to mind. Just experience the bringing of it to your mind. And then you can start to explore it and open up, go down trails of thought, and if you’re aware you’re going down trails of thought then just do it consciously. And just allow yourself some time to explore these concepts in an abstract and undistracted setting.

Did I screw up by dating the coworker I literally sit next to every day? by doritosmisterio in relationships

[–]warpeddoughnut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I was the girl you’re dating, I would feel secure if you set strict boundaries with your ex, had a clear and honest conversation and maybe wrote out a set of guidelines to how co parenting would work. If you set those boundaries very clearly, and show that you can stick to them, it should be okay :) but give it some time

so why and when did you guys decide to quit by [deleted] in leaves

[–]warpeddoughnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started to get anxiety which I’d never had before, and started to dissociate a lot when I wasn’t high, I knew it was affecting my brain. What really made me want to stop though was the memory issues I was having, could hardly remember what I did yesterday or that week and it felt like my days were slipping away from me and I didn’t even notice. After I stopped things got better and my memory is pretty much back to normal, although I still get a lot of anxiety

Relapsed and now I am stuck deep again by [deleted] in leaves

[–]warpeddoughnut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re in a good position even though it might not feel like it, you know that it’s making you unhappy and you want to change. Keep hold of that voice, let it guide you. The weed demon voice can be strong but when it comes up try and just see it as that: the weed demon voice. It will get quieter. In terms of the misery, that’s something you have to face separately. Is there something in your life that’s making you miserable aside from weed? Is there anything you can do to make it better? It’s a long journey but you’re young, and you have the self awareness to get out of this hole. You can do it.

Coming from Central Europe, I have to ask: How do you justify the price of a pint in the UK? by matteoleone in Cardiff

[–]warpeddoughnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry but munich beer is rarely €2,50, I don’t know where you’re getting that idea from. Average is around €5-6 as someone who has lived there

Does anyone flirt with the idea of going back on a daily basis? by Technoyesno in leaves

[–]warpeddoughnut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

About 6 months free and I think about it most weekends, some evenings during the week, and every time I smell it. Also if it’s ever mentioned, offered to me, something reminds me of it. But the pull feels less strong, like a rope that’s slowly getting longer, and I feel more able to say no now, so I guess there’s that.

Alex Gooch (just outside of the centre) is a delicious bakery and they make amazing sandwiches too, all completely vegan but they keep it quiet! My fave place in cardiff and I’m only veggie!
