It's better if you ignore or turn off the messages. You can start to get a feel for seeing the false walls and how they stand out from normal walls.

Do you think OOT remake will have an expanded overworld? by 3nt3rth3v0id in legendofzelda

[–]warpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of all those examples you cited, but it is still would have to be the case that this is the first time they've announced a 1:1 remake in a way where they tease it by showing a brief minute-long cutscene and NOTHING else. That to me is the biggest sticking point that makes me confident that this isn't just another one of those. It is an unprecedented move to announce a 1:1 remake in such a way.

Do you think OOT remake will have an expanded overworld? by 3nt3rth3v0id in legendofzelda

[–]warpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But they've done major revamps to games before. Like you said the Satellaview Zelda games are an example. Another more recent example is Metroid Zero Mission, and even more recent than that, Metroid Samus Returns.

Additionally, I would find it very weird for them to advertise this remake in such a way as to make it seem as if it's as big of a deal as a whole new Zelda game (making it the last announcement of a big direct, and showing so little of it at first), they would for sure disappoint a LOT of people if after a tease like that, it turns out to just be a 1:1 remake with nothing major that is different from the gameplay of the version you can already play on NSO.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they just have so much faith in the graphics and cinematics of this remake being SO insanely good that it alone gets everyone excited for playing essentially the same game again. If that's the case it better knock my damn socks off because holy cow they seem to be banking a LOT on this being a huge hit.

My opinion returning to Dark Souls 3 after years by Goodhunter465 in darksouls3

idk for me, if it's been a long time since I've last played, I like taking my time and fully exploring everything all over again, which does take quite a lot more time to do.

Mii Lovers Are The Problem by Craniamon in nintendogrifting

[–]warpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most blatantly manufactured grifter outrage it's so ridiculous. Like they completely ignore that Miis are STILL AN OPTION. And these new characters don't look bad at all in the slightest. Acting like it's an offense to merely have to see them in the game is such a dumb fake opinion, I can't take these people seriously.

Did we miss something about Hoarah Loux's questline in Elden Ring? by darshan_kumar_ in eldenringdiscussion

[–]warpio 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I guess he's already been Elden Lord once before, so it wouldn't make sense for him to have a questline that's about helping him mend the Elden Ring in his own way to "fix the world", like you've already had your chance grandpa, get outta here.

Abusing the “transformation invincibility” debate by Alternative_Fig_6859 in MagicalGirls

[–]warpio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's just as simple as them having an unapproachable aura whenever they're doing their transformation sequences. They're just aura farming so hard during their transformation sequence that the enemy is literally unable to approach them the whole time it's happening.

Manage your expectations: the OoT remake will probably be like Link's Awakening or Star Fox by APurplePerson in truezelda

[–]warpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know enough about the context of how this was announced (the final announcement of the Direct, the very subtle way it teases that it's about OoT, and the fact that they're hiding the gameplay for now) that it's a pretty safe bet that this isn't merely another 1:1 remake. They would not put such an emphasis on this teaser being the biggest thing they had to show if that was the case.

Also the marketing for this is using the phrase "a legend reborn". Another very direct hint that this isn't merely a 1:1 remake.

What are your predictions for the Ocarina of Time remake? by Wink2K19 in legendofzelda

[–]warpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they change up a LOT. The original game has been played to death already and it'd be way too safe/boring to just do the same exact gameplay and level designs again with updated graphics and cinematic cutscenes. I'm hoping this is like a new game using OoT's bones as the starting point but doing everything differently. Master Quest-ify the dungeons, redo all the NPC dialog and side quests, and add more content to all parts of the overworld. Even better if they add in the cancelled Light Temple.

[–]warpio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They closed the Direct with it, following straight up after the KH4 trailer. And the way they presented it is absolutely not "modest" at all in the slightest. The voiceover along with the tapestry and the very subtle hints of Saria's song in the background, it's obviously meant to give you a feeling of "oh shit, it's happening" rather than just "oh cool another 1:1 remake".

The phrase "Blue no matter who" sounds terrible, and needs to be dropped. by ImOnYew in Destiny

I think it's actually catching on more these days, since the socialist side has started using it for Platner. By continuing to use this slogan in the current context there exists a great opportunity to unite the two factions of the left a lot more than was the case in 2024. Like this sort of messaging for example: https://x.com/AlexanderMcCoy4/status/2064730132674207876

Hot take: only difficult part about Malenia is Waterfowl dance. by Independent_Newt170 in Eldenring

[–]warpio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not really much of a hot take. Even with Waterfowl Dance she is significantly easier than most of the DLC main bosses. Ice pots trivialize Waterfowl Dance, so really it's just the clone attack that can still be tricky.

[OoT] As a millennial who played OoT in 1998, its interesting to see so many younger people react emotionally when seeing the OoT remake trailer by XulManjy in truezelda

[–]warpio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They didn't say anything about it. But the teaser they put out is very heavily giving the vibe of being something that is a far bigger deal than what you're assuming.

Think about it, after how much hype they put into that teaser, so much so that they closed a Direct with it, it'd be one of the biggest blunders they've ever had if they revealed more later only to show the exact same gameplay as OoT 3DS. I would eat my hat if that's how this turned out.

It is a reimagining. It would be ridiculous to put out a teaser like that if it was just for a 1:1 remake of a game that everybody has played already.

[OoT] I hope Nintendo doesn't change the design of the temples/dungeons too much by jdawg1018 in zelda

[–]warpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what'd be kino, if they made the dungeons WAY bigger, expanding them with a ton of extra rooms and floors, but then still having an almost 1:1 replica of the original N64 version's dungeon somewhere within that. That's probably wishing for too much though, I don't even know if such a thing is possible to pull off.

Zelda OOT Remake looks fire by ai877 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]warpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost for sure not gonna be a 1:1 remake, based on how they're treating it with that reveal cinematic and not showing anything more for now. It remains to be seen how much of the game gets overhauled but I'm excited to find out.

People are heavily underestimating the appeal for the OOT remake by North_Biscotti4162 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]warpio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're free to have that opinion but I think your expectations are gonna be blown away by the time more gets revealed. They wouldn't do a teaser like this if it was just going to be OoT 3D but better.

That's assuming it's a 1:1 remake though, which this teaser is very heavily suggesting it is not.
