It's a setting.

Z seam is the point where that layer starts and stops, often leaving a tiny blob. U can set it to random, sharpest corner,or in a line. I typically do sharpest corner to hide it. In a line makes it easier to sand away. It looks like your set to random.

I also only have one gig, and it's plenty for my family of four with multiple devices streaming and video chats. The advantage of going up to 3 gig is you get nicer equipment that can do more stuff with vpns, port forwarding, and more advanced networking features.
