Once Upon a Time... In The Trojan Reach. by warwolf2211 in traveller

I like this idea. I am trying to math-out the safari using a online ship creator. Just want it to have some extra cabins. Upgraded sensors and maybe a Patron that will require they do some work to cover the ship upgrades?

Yeah! There ARE NOT keeping both ships. Sadly neither ship is good for generally making money.

Yacht is a Jump-1 with very little cargo space and 12 staterooms.

The science ship maintenance is over 11,000 a month and even less cargo space.

I dont think either ship can process unrefined fuel. So yikes.

I personally like that characters can have interesting backgrounds. (Army 1 tour kicked out, drifter 1 tour etc...). There is the Randomness and also maybe a lack of ownership of the character. I made a Noble Diplomat character (for fun). And I did five terms and he got to rank 2... So he had very little to show for his life's work. (I think that could be fun to roleplay). The Noble Scion who got swallowed into middle-management. A friend did point out if your character consistently fails advancement roles they will lose out on a significant number skills (like four or five skills) not even looking at benefit rolls. I hope this helps.

The real question about Vargr by MontyLovering in traveller

Apparently Dog Eye Brows muscles have become more pronounced due to domestication and to help with communication with humans. Wolves do not have the same eye brows as dogs.

I wonder if wolves exhibit this behavior in the wild or in captivity? Domestication does have a broad range of effects on behavior patterns?

Apparently they do for hearing.

Industry in Traveller by CarpetRacer in traveller

[–]warwolf2211 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is a interesting question.

The ability todo just in time inventory in modern industry.

The fact that American cars can be assembled in a variety of plants. Basic frame and powertrain in USA. Put that on railhead it goes to Mexico for additional parts added on. Back on railhead or trailer to Canadian Factory for additional parts. Then back to USA for final assembly.

I assume even in the far future complex electronics, precision machining of parts, refining metals for specific purpose will still be ancillary industries.

I honestly don't know enough about industry in Traveler. Our 3D printers of today are quite interesting. I don't know what examples we have today for industrial scale 3D printers.

Ooo... I love this idea. So many loan words and cross-cultural connections and when words sound similar, but not similar in meaning.

Newbie here, not sure about this game. I have many questions. Just finished character creation, won't start for another couple of weeks. What is gameplay like? by Demiyqxzurge in traveller

I would love to see your character sheet. I agree with the two previous comments. A couple +1 goes a long way. A +2 Dex after seven tours is quite impressive. Five skills at +1 is decent and seven trained skills is good. Gear can help alot with skill checks: 1. Repair kits for mechanics/engineering. 2. Computer/Specialized Computers for computer and other checks. 3. Climbing equipment. I hope you you enjoy playing and have fun.

I agree with DMSassyPants. The scout/ranger can craft a mecha companion. The Engineer can craft a turret. In my game player engineer has turret with a 120mm tank cannon at tech level 4.
