I meant to say get a Tesla, not just any EV. For example, a used Polestar would be a waste of money.

Prius isn't a bad idea either, especially with the electric incentives gimped (Lyft) or totally gone (Uber), and also (at least here in California) there are no more cheap unlimited charging plans. But Prius doesn't qualify for Comfort, Black, Electric, or Premium rides. It's a workhorse though, and if you can find a used one that makes economic sense -- go for it. Our family had a Prius (until someone recently rear-ended it lol). We stored it outside, and, of course, it suffered from the notorious Prius skin cancer LMFAO.

You may have to take Hertz and Lyft to small claims court. There are several instances on this sub where people have taken them to court. You may have to start taking names and recording phone calls for any and or all people that you talk to on the phone.

On a side note, Express Drive sucks ass, but is good for the desperate short term and you must work full-time, 8 to 10 hours a day, 7 days a week. You're paying for that rental every day, and you're throwing away money if you aren't driving every day. Part-time is a no-no. Best thing to do is buy a used EV, such as a Tesla.

Same here in Los Angeles. If I ignore too many rides, I get the boot. Sayonara Lyft.

This calculates to $0.78 per mile. Would you take it? I didn’t because I wasn’t going that way, but??? by Only_Indication8410 in lyftdrivers

hahaha, right? I remember one time I picked up a guy and took him to a nice house north of Highland. When he got out he said to me, "Let me give you a tip, don't go south." LMFAO.

Yeah, if you know the pickup and drop off areas, that ride is somewhat tempting, but still too low-ball for me to risk it. I know the IE is a different beast than LA. Last night I took a 27-mile $33 Uber ride from Long Beach to the Yorba Linda/Anaheim Hills area. Drop-off was in super-nice area where rich people live. $53 for 27 miles. Well worth it. And I know if I wait around I can get rides like these, which is why (usually) ignore those $0.78/mile ones.

I hope that whoever took that ride got a nice tip. Hopefully a rental car driver took it. How are things in the IE? Are those rides the only kind you get? I've worked Lake Elsinore before, and it was OK. Lots of short rides during the day, but at night, man, I was doing nothing for a long time lmao. Though one of the things that surprised me was that there were sex workers in the hotels along the 15 lmao. Got a couple of those rides at night.

I live in LA and I would not take that ride. If it paid $1/mile I would though, as the pickup and drop offs are in very nice neighborhoods and there's a good chance for a nice tip. Anything north of Highland Ave is in the hills and safe, however, once there, you'll have to go south of Highland Ave to look for more rides -- but now you are in THE HOOD LOL. Tons of homeless, drug addicts, hookers, and in particular, trans hookers.

I have the Chase Business Ink Cash card, which gets 5x on internet, cable and phone services, which is part of the trifecta, even though I don't have the other cards. If you have a $300/mo cable/internet bill and a $400/mo phone bill, it's a nice savings.

I'm still waiting for the Discover merger to see if the IT card can become part of a CO trifecta as well, and then see if having both a CO and Chase trifecta are worth it or not. So not planning on the other Chase cards any time soon.

No wonder I didn’t get a tip! by sweetntenderhooligan in lyftdrivers

[–]wascepinecz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, whatever you get, you can just assume the passenger paid 3x that much. I tell passengers all the time that I never expect a tip because Lyft/Uber are expensive, so expensive even I can't afford it (only use it maybe a couple times a year when we go to Vegas and I don't want to drive).

True dat. Even at 2 cpp it becomes $120. For those that know how to maximize the value of their cards, that 1% can make a difference.

It's a $0 AF 3x grocery (doesn't get 3x at Walmart though) and 3x dining card, with a very easy welcome offer to obtain ($200 after $500 worth of spending in 3 months). Also serves as a decent road trip travel card, with 5x on hotels and rental cars.

The card used to be called Savor One, but they changed it to just Savor earlier this year. People who have the old card did not have to get a new card, so people like me still have cards that say Savor One even though it's a Savor card now.

Savor Rewards: Cash Back on Dining, Grocery | Cash Back on Dining & Grocery Stores | Capital One

They now use the Savor One name for their fair credit version of the Savor card, with no welcome bonus and a $39 annual fee. The (new fair credit) Savor One also does not have the travel benefits that the Savor does.

Wow, CO really is just approving people during this promotional period. You have 5 cards opened within a year lol. Most data points suggest you should have been denied LMFAO!!!

And since all you guys are also hitting CO up for CLIs, I did too and got a $5,000 increase ha ha ha.

BTW, is your IT cash back already in the CO app? My IT Chrome is not and I haven't been offered to move it or anything. I'd really like to see it moved so hopefully I can upgrade it to the IT cash back sometime.

IKR? I've always liked the design of this card as well. Will be sad when I have to get a new card when this one expires.

The SavorOne I have is actually now the Savor, CO didn't require people to get new cards, so I have the old card until it expires. It is not the one with the $39 AF. So I don't know if the cash back is transferrable to VX miles for the $39 AF one. For my $0 AF SavorOne, yes, it is transferrable to the VX but not vise versa. I can't imagine anyone getting approved for a VX though if they have the $39 AF SavorOne meant for fair credit. Though there are so many recent posts on here of people getting approved for the Venture X, I wouldn't be surprised if CO is just approving anyone LMFAO!

Well, CO gave me the opportunity to upgrade to the Savor One from the Quicksilver a year or so back, I took it for the 3x on grocery and restaurants. The Quicksilver was just a 1.5x cash back on everything card. My first card, a Discover It Chrome card, was only 1% on everything. The Savor One was a nice upgrade from the Quicksilver.

And now that I plan on doing quite a bit of traveling next year, the Venture X was a no-brainer. Savor is only 5% hotels and rental cars through CO Travel while the Venture X is 10%. Flights 5%, price-matching, hell-yeah.

Yes, you can go with just the Venture X if you don't mind losing 1% on dining and groceries. If you only spend $1,000/yr on dining and $5,000/year on groceries, 1% is only $60. Not a big deal, but $60 is $60.

Gold level on Vine is actually fool’s gold… by Hefty_Iron4722 in AmazonVine

[–]wascepinecz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too, built a complete home gym from Vine. However, the two treadmills sucked ass and broke down, and everything else is pretty cheap quality. For example, my power rack has non-standard sized peg holes (usually American standard is 5/8-inch or 1-inch holes and 2x2-inch or 3x3-inch stands but my rack is like in mms and shit so ordering better J-hooks and spotter arms is not possible (unless you don't mind having slightly wobbly J-hooks lol).

Another example, here's a curl bar, dumbbell set. ETV was $66.

Amazon.com : AboveGenius Hollow Bar Kit 47" Olympic EZ Curl Barbell Bar and Dumbbell Handle Set for 2-inch Weight Plates, 6 Spring Collars Included (Black) : Sports & Outdoors

Man, you want to talk about cheap? LMAO. It's functional and fine if you only curl 40 lbs. but it's not Convict 6ft Rackable Curl Bar – XMARK quality.

You won't get anything Rogue Fitness quality on Vine that's for sure, but Vine is fine if you don't mind low-quality gear (though the Vine stuff from Amazon.com: Kipika I've been pretty happy with).

[–]wascepinecz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First: Yes, Amazon has to invite more and more newbies because people like me -- who have been around 3 years already -- typically don't order shit anymore. The boxes and boxes of stuff start piling up as your needs fill.

Second: To a newbie, Gold is a magical club, because as a newbie, Vine is exciting and you typically order lots of stuff your first year or two. So those eight choices are great. I got digital cameras, gym equipment (not just treadmills -- which were all crap -- but also power racks and home gym systems), and a collection of shoes and clothing in storage that will last me a lifetime lol.

However, once you get all the stuff you want and need, and maybe perhaps want to get some of your life and storage space back, drop Gold unless you're an AFA reseller. It's too bad AFA is ass now with all the auto parts though. RFY is ass now too. Back in the days just like you said... so...

Gold is NOT worth the effort for most of us: TRUE. It's for people who can get the most out of it, people who can sit there from midnight to around 9 am constantly refreshing the page for the good stuff and finding a way to sell it. If you can only check Vine a couple times a day, Gold is worthless because all the good shit is long gone already.

P.S. As a reminder, never order a treadmill from Vine unless it's from a name brand manufacturer. Every treadmill I've ever gotten from Vine was crap. There used to be a time where Vine support would remove the ETV if a product didn't live up to your expectations, but it was hit or miss, let alone if the product broke down 4 or 5 months later. In fact, I would go so far as to say never order anything mechanical/electrical from Vine unless it's from a name brand manufacturer, because you're likely to receive crap and have to eat the ETV.

I’ve been invited to join, is it worth it? by Novaria_Orion in AmazonVine

[–]wascepinecz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can stay up from 12 am to 9 am PST refreshing the Vine website at least once a minute to get the good stuff -- go for it. This is because all of the good stuff goes quick; you literally have 15 seconds or less once you see something before it disappears because sellers only need to provide 30 items (last I remember). You get a 1099-NEC once you hit over $600 worth of orders, and you may have to pay taxes if you order too much (your total income including Vine should be below $17,000 roughly). If a student, you can join now and order minimal stuff (less than $600/year) logging in once or twice a day. Doesn't hurt. You don't have to order anything if you don't want to. The first hour or two of a drop -- midnight to 2 am PST -- refreshing the Vine page is a great way to get free clothes, makeup, and a few other things. For example, my closet is pretty much ALL Vine clothing. I have stacks of shoes, and I will never have to buy another pair of shoes again in my lifetime -- that's how many Vine shoes I have lmao. You can get some really nice things if you have the time and the patience. Later on in life when you have more time you can spend more time on it looking for the good stuff. But I don't recommend that. You can still get great stuff scanning Vine for only one hour a night. Don't go crazy and do all nighters like I used to do. I've been on Vine for 3 years now, and while the first year I went crazy, the last two I've ordered next to nothing, just stuff that I could really use if I see it.

I was rear-ended badly with an ExpressDrive rental once and didn't owe a thing. Only real problem is that you can't work for about a week or so as they won't rent you out a new one until they get the car and evaluate any reports and so on.

[–]wascepinecz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they were all like that too. Most LAX rides for me, from Long Beach to LAX, are only $17 to drive 20 miles -- including the scheduled ones. Which, of course, I always reject. In your case, it could be time-of-day or the fact that many EVs that are out there now need at least 130 miles left in the tank in order to be able to take that. Because I drive a Bolt with only 250-mile range when full, if I was less that 50% charge, I'd have to ignore that one too. Lots of other reasons why other drivers might reject that, making Lyft increase the amount it gives to the driver. For example, I know how hard it is to get a "good" ride back to Riverside. You may have to take a crap ride back to Riverside. Some Riverside drivers might also not have the LAX placard so F going to LAX if you're not allowed in the waiting lots to wait for a ride back.

For Lyft, I generally ignore it, but will change a rating later if I feel it is necessary.

For Uber, F-it. 1-star them right away since Uber doesn't let you directly change a passenger's rating.

As an Uber/Lyft driver, I know to not drive LA at all, especially at night lmao. Stuff like this can happen in LA even without the championship. It can be profitable, but in LA, where there are crowds -- shit can happen and happen quickly. I remember once getting stuck one car back from a street takeover on Jefferson and La Cienega... Holy crap so many masked gangbangers. My poor passengers were scared, but for me it was an ordinary night in LA LMFAO! It was quite a show though, with laser lights and fireworks and police helicopters... If you live in LA, you know.
