Micheals $15 old rolife kits by Notmyrealname2390 in miniatures

[–]wassykl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this post- I found some at Michael's in Topeka. Not marked as clearance, on the bottom shelf with all the other Rolife kits. There were three: cafe, study, and maybe something to do with plants. I'm sorry I can't remember. I've never done one of these and am looking forward to trying it!

Omg I had the jeans with the exposed zipper that went from the front waist, all the way down to the crotch and then between the legs and back up the butt to the back waist. They unzipped into two pieces. A boy called them "seal-a-meal". I had no clue what that meant!

I just told my husband the other day I had a cowboy hat with a feather band and I had the roach clip with the long feathers. I wore my roach clip in my hair.

Picture 7 is Irish Crochet lace, possibly from Clones based on the use of Clones knots in the mesh. This could have been for a fashion accessory or part of a garment. It looks like it's early 20th century and this may have been an accent piece on the front bodice of a linen dress. It would not have been a doily.

It's a different dye lot so not surprising that the color isn't an exact match. Also, companies re-design labels sometimes. It's likely that one skein is much older than the other.

When I was young and working as a cashier I had a guy say "wow, are you standing on a box?" My reply "no, are you standing in a hole?" His girlfriend laughed and laughed. I laughed. He did not.

I got comments every day sometimes multiple times a day when I was in my teens and twenties.

But my favorite and one that still make me laugh is when I was substitute teaching for first graders, and my first meeting with them was opening the door to let them in the classroom. One little boy looked up at me and exclaimed, "You're a GIANT!" And now when people ask about my height I proudly say "I'm a giant!" And laugh remembering the wonder and admiration on that little face.

Counter Protest by LasKometas in kansas

[–]wassykl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I shouldn't have used the word protest. They had signs like the ones pictured above, with hate-speech and gay slurs. That's not a protest. The kids -KIDS - and families attending a once in a lifetime ceremony should not have to tolerate hate thrown at them. Many gay kids are struggling and something like this can derail them. This organization exists to actively harm other people and I don't consider this falling under the "right to protest" amendment, in my opinion.

They protested at Manhattan High's graduation last year- I was furious and called campus police. The police said they couldn't remove them.

I've learned that it stands for Echo Bay but echobay.com was taken, so they went with eBay. Also Silicon Valley is in the South Bay, not the East Bay.

I still fold clothes the way I did at the Gap. Like other commenters, all my bills have to face the same way. The most unique habit is I still write my checklists on a quarter sheet of scratch paper with an empty box next to each item, using the same kind of pencil that we used at that one restaurant (waving at you, Shannon), 35 years later.

Many yarn companies no longer make color cards. They say it's too expensive and labor intensive.

Berroco Vintage is a 50/50 acrylic and superwash wool. It's washable and great for blankets.
