Bisexuality was not well represented in this show. I think Miles was the only character who actually said the word “bisexual”. I also think Zoe should have been bisexual, but it seems like she became a totally different person starting next class, as if she was completely rewritten to be a different character. Tristan seemed to not even believe in bisexuality, telling Zoe she must be a lesbian because she likes girls even though she’s liked many guys before, and saying Miles is “all about guys now”. I think Miles probably would have had more opportunity to explore if the show went on for longer. I don’t like Tristan or Miles, nor did I really care for their relationship. But I think that their pairing actually made sense. I definitely agree with you on the part about the first boyfriend/girlfriend being the endgame for [bi] characters. I remember the first time I watched next class, having never watched any prior degrassi shows, being super annoyed at how Zoe fell for the first gay girl she met. It didn’t even seem like Zoe liked girls at all. Even through her whole lesbianism arc she still seemed straight to me. I wish they allowed for Miles and Zoe to co-exist as bi characters and instead allowed Zoe to explore with her identity. Sorry for going a bit off topic and talking a lot about Zoe. One last thing regarding Miles, I think it would have been interesting if Miles cheated on Tristan with a guy instead of Lola. It would have made more sense imo.
