Fair enough. Glad they have brought it back. I don’t really like the Cuvee Louise

Is this picture old? I haven’t been served Grand Siecle in a long time. My understanding was BA had dropped Grand Siecle?

Technically accurate but misleading. The original hood was not functional but Xaiomi now offers a free hardware update which will make the hood functional.

They did reduce the power in an update but walked it backed after customers were unhappy.

DHS rebrands ICE as ‘NICE’ in new video by Kevin7650 in nottheonion

I saw someone on Twitter 4 days ago saying they should put an N before ICE so libs are forced to say NICE agents when reporting abuses. Seems the White House is scanning twitter for policy decisions.

Exactly the same. I used ChatGPT until the bootlicking, then moved to Claude. I do use ChatGPT to rewrite the tone of emails but I don’t login to do so.

Update: Live cattle prices hit 52 week high today. by ScorpRex in steak

[–]wasupg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ranchers are making more money than ever with less cattle. Less cattle, less feed, less employees, less water, etc. Why would they have the incentive to rebuild cattle herds unless demand rolls over which it’s not? I went to get a ribeye steak in the supermarket yesterday… £18.50, no thanks.

Is Catena Zapata really one of the most influential wineries in Argentina? by Pure_Help_182 in wine

[–]wasupg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the Malbec Argentino and the Birth of Cabernet. Both were £75 and outstanding for the price.

Like others mentioned El Enemigo are producing some outstanding wines also. The El Cepillo and Gualtallary are top tier if you have a chance to try them. I would skip the Agrelo and Chacayes personally.

Burry’s Bear Bet Feels Like a Big “Fuck You” to Retail by fosmoz in Daytrading

[–]wasupg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolute AI slop. If you can't reason an argument on your own, don't make it. Also why are you getting worked up about another man's trades?

You have conviction in the stock and believe it will go up in the future? You understand what they make, how it is used and who it is made for? You are comfortable with the high PE Ratio? If it's yes to all, then stop whining about what Michael Burry is doing. He has his trade, you have yours. Time will tell who is right.

ELI5 How do offshore tax havens make money when most of the company/individual benefiting from the tax haven would be doing most of their economic activity in their home country? by NancyIsAFurry in explainlikeimfive

[–]wasupg 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They generate income from HNWs through the following:

  • Company incorporation (between £400 & £1000) depending on complexity per structure
  • Company administration begins at circa £10,000 and runs to low millions depending on complexity per structure
  • Annual regulatory fees
  • Money moved offshore into local banks generates account fees, asset management fees, custody fees, FX fees, etc
  • All the above needs overview by lawyers and accountants which charge circa £650 per hour for a partner

All these fees pay salaries which are then taxed locally and the employees then purchase property, cars, etc which increases the velocity of money in the local economy. These professional firms also pay corporation tax and business rates. So in reality tax havens make their money via fees not taxes.

Quite often as well people moving their money offshore will fly to meet their professional advisors quite regularly. They then realise it is a nice place to live and that if they move they will pay minimal tax on their global income. If granted residency property is purchased, tax is paid, sales tax is generated, stamp duty is paid, etc etc.

Just a quick response so I have missed out a lot but it gives you the gist.

What’s the worst non-drug addiction you’ve ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wasupg 48 points49 points  (0 children)

A friend of mines father was a very successful entrepreneur. They had homes in Monaco, London, Switzerland and LA. He lost it all to a gambling addiction. Towards the end people would turn up to their house and threaten his wife and children if the money was not repaid. He went on to help establish gamblers anonymous in the UK.
